I was born and raised in southeast Kansas and I returned here after college And you are completely right the county that I live in is where iola is at I'm only 45 minutes from Parsons What's sad is when I was a kid you can leave your doors unlocked your wallet in your car and you didn't have to worry about it The crime and violence started here in the early 2000s Methamphetamines is the reason that we have got the problems we have now They like to try to cover that up in the local politics but if you go through the pictures from all the local sheriff's departments of the arrested They're all meth heads And they are the same ones over and over again Every week we see the same people in there being arrested for petty crime and major crime You might be asking yourself will why is it they're not in jail they've been arrested? And you would be right but like an Allen county our district attorney won't try these people I talked to several sheriff's deputies in Allen county who are frustrated with the situation and they will not name namesbut basically the majority of those deputies have put more than 200 felony cases on our district attorney's desk over the last ten years and none of them have ever went to trial The problem lies in the elected officials in a lot of these old Hamlet's They're lazy and they're double dipping they're using like the district attorney here in Allen county this is his second retirement gig We've got a lot of problems in southeast Kansas

Kansas's drug issues are greatly underreported as we have laws put in place to help addicts by actually getting them the help they need to recover vs simply incarcerated Unfortunately like many laws in this wonderful state, it annoys the special type of person who becomes law enforcement in a state who's pays just slightly higher than minimum wage to most law enforcement So if they catch a junky stealing its not reported as a drug related property theft as well that would require paperwork and that person may actually have the benefit of help which wouldn't scratch that malicious itch

I've lived in Leavenworth for 35 years and this video is extremely inaccurate The most notable murder that we did have was by the police killing a man who was of no threat to the officer at all This is a nice safe place to live I lost my house keys once and felt comfortable leaving my door unlocked for about 3 months before I finally made it a priority to get replacement keys made There's a good size retirement community and a military base, Fort Leavenworth, All and all, I love it here Also he made a reference to Leavenworth being the reason why Kansas City, Missouri is such a bad place to live Well Leavenworth is in the State of Kansas, not Missouri There is a city in Kansas called Kansas City and a city in Missouri called Kansas City and they are VERY different places
