I am Malaysian who has visited 20 more countries and have been living in Singapore for 5 years heading to sixth and more, I really love Singapore! People are nice, food are great, transportation, safety, cleanliness, convenience, language skills, honestly nothing I can complain here

Usually when my friends want to visit and ask me for recommendations, I would actually ask them what kind of experience are they looking for There is actually a lot that you can do here, depending on what kind of a person you are We just like to bring them for food because we have so much variety and they are here for a short time so we try to pack as much variety as possible within the short span of time! brbrAnd in our taxi drivers’ defense, they do offer to help us load our luggage, but being able-bodied adults, we did it ourselves

these are some of the places that are highly recommended and will take up your entire day Singapore Zoo Universal studios SEA aquarium National Gallery Haw Par Villa (ultra asian) or take a long bus ride on bus 130 that takes you from the city center into HDB town Ang Mo Kio and see where most locals livebrif you like nature there's a whole other list of places to visit

I think the point about Singapore being "too westernized," or she "doesn't feel like she's in Asia," she's probably talking about how Singapore is so modern with so many high rise & futuristic buildings but not many traditional structures like Korea or Japan, they're very modern but they also are very proud to show their culture in terms of architecture, clothes, manners, food etc also in Singapore there's a lot of foreigners everywhere you look it doesn't really feel like "Asia"

Actually she is right Cos the best places are actually outside of the city or CBD area No one goes to Orchard Road anymore too It is now Filipina and Bangla city there Go to Bugis for food and shopping Go to Chinatown Complex for hawker food Go to Geylang Serai for Malay food Go to Race Course Road Tekka Market for real Indian food Go to Chinese Garden, cycle to Punggol on AnyWheel, visit the libraries here cos they are beautiful Have beer and satay at east coast lagoon So many cheap and fun things to do here Give us another chance I dont hate on this person at all, I just gotta show the real side of Singapore

Having been to Singapore 8 times and going again shortly, all I can say is boo hoo to her is she obviously didn't do any research Tiger balm gardens, jurong bird park, the zoo, the botanic gardins, beaches, tirong baru I do agree that Marina Bay Sands is pretty poor value for money, the rooms/room service etc dont match the hype, even if the pool is amazing But thats a small complaint as the rest of Singapore is amazing Singaporeans are also amazingly friendly and I've always found taxi drivers to be super friendly

I've been visiting Singapore more than I can count and everytime I'm there I have something new to go to or to do because I do RESEARCH before spending I would not expect visiting Singapore or any other countries will be cheap because I don't live and work there so it means no money coming in only out Where ever you may go you will find rude people and kind people It will depend on how you will take itbrbrFor me there is no other place better than Singapore I don't care if majority of it is man made (it is still environment friendly) I have seen a video documentary on how Singapore recycle and turn it to Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by The Bay and even the on going new Tuas Port That is simply amazing to me (because I have so little knowledge in recycling)! I know other countries are doing it or even have done it already but Singapore does it on a whole new level Ever wondered how a country as small as New York with a population 5x of it manage their trash?brbrI've also seen a video of the "dark side of Singapore" Every success story has a dark past about it Nobody can stand up if you are already standing up, right?brbrIf I ever get a chance to visit Singapore I will again and again and again and again

I had a really bad encounter when I visited Singapore The taxi driver was friendly at first asking where I’ll go and if it’s my first time When he asked where I’m from and he learned that I was a Filipino, he stopped the car Made me go out of his cab and told me I don’t allow maids in here Mind you, I was dressed properly and all But I did not let that experience ruin my whole trip However, I’m still scared riding the cab whenever visiting there

Singaporians are very rude generally I remember staying at a hotel that used to be on the Cnr of penang rd by orchard going down to breakfast we read a sign stating wait to be seated eventually a staff member showed up and wanted to know what we wanted we told her breakfast she told,us not to bother her she was busy brThe rest of her attitude was much worse brOn my last trip to Singapore we went on a tour and one place was peutur shop we had to go in the driver was very strict on this My wife,and I did not wish to purchase we only went on the tour to go to safariAfter telling the staff we where not interested they became quite aggressive my wife and I agreed to withdraw to our respective male and female toilets for the last 10 minutes thinking we would be safe in there but NObrThe staff followed us into the toilets and started to bang on the door demanding we buy there merchandise Again saying No I left and went back out to salesroom and my wife came out quite shaken a minute later she told,me they where harrassing her on the toilet she was so humiliated we walked out of the shop against the order of the guidebrWe had, had enough Truly customer service,in Singapore sucks and the people generally rude I have spent 30 years and spent time in most Asian countries like Taiwan hk nothing is quite as bad as Singapore I will travelling again soon to Singapore I hope they lift there game its shocking Most travellers I talk to think the same as I do Sorry Singapore your reputation is well earned

I love singapore, so clean, so green We stayed at Fairmont it was nice and inexpensive The most I spent for food was €200 in a michelin french resto i love eating at PSCafe their truffle fries and cesar salad And the casino at marina bay is lucky was able to buy an LV pochette jour from the winnings I’ve been asked 3x about directions, I guess I look like a local lol Well people also ask me for directions in europe so maybe I just look well travelled but I only travel 4x a year

Regarding taxi drivers, I think it might be different if you’re taking a regular cab versus a ride-hailing one The regular taxi drivers are in the service industry full time, and helping load luggage is part of their job description This is not the same with Grab or Gojek drivers Their only requirement is to get you from point A to B Anything more than that is considered going above and beyond This is why you can rate your Grab drivers as being “Helpful” after the ride It’s not expected but an extra

1- first question I was asked when I visited Singapore how much I make in my country and how much I have in my saving account br2- yes taxi guy was rude refused to help with my luggages and that reflect on the general culture and attitude cause I’ve been to so many countries and never ever I rode a taxi and the taxi driver didn’t offer to help br3- I stayed at Novotel which is famous for being affordable but no not in Singapore br4- food is everywhere yet not good br5- yes everything is artificial and regulated which is something I honestly like

As an “avid” traveller, she should’ve done her research before the trip Prices, attractions, what to find there and see there, etc Asia is a huge continent with vast differences between each country so if she doesn’t want the developed city, she could’ve opted to go to other countries There are also plenty of attractions in Singapore that are world-class which she won’t find in the neighbouring countries
