US healthcare isn’t bad, it’s just how scammy their “health insurance” is Comment from : nimay13 |
Healthcare may technically be the best in the USA, but socially it might be the worst The healthcare workers Rob the public with high cost The wealth accumulated by the healthcare workers is out of proportion of the other workers It is almost immoral Comment from : Rashid Ahmad |

In the US, having health insurance is almost always a net negative, barring a catastrophic event I went to the hospital a few years ago with stroke symptoms, they gave me an EKG and an IV and sent me home after a couple hours I got a bill for $3500 If you have health insurance they charge you more, but my deductible is $8000 so it didn’t cover a penny I’ve simply gotten to the point I avoid the health care system like the plague that it is If I absolutely HAVE to go to the doctor, I tell them I don’t have insurance and I pay out of pocket It’s still outrageous, but at least it’s less Our hospitals have more fat miserable “administrators” than actual healthcare professionals Perhaps if they cut the fat, and half of people didn’t have their healthcare subsidized (Medicare and Medicaid), it would improve I also find it hilarious how old people in the US talk about how evil socialism is but if you challenge them on their Social Security or Medicare benefits, they attack you and say “I paid for 40 years, this is MY MONEY!” When in reality, SS benefits totally aside, they’ve cost more in Medicare coverage alone than they MADE in their whole life, let alone paid in taxes Comment from : Michael Burrell |
RWANDA, even has universal healthcare, and we all know what they went through not that many decades ago Yet we here in the US with all of our pretensions about being so exceptional, we still have not been able to figure out something as fundamental as universal healthcare/healthcare access for all Comment from : shesaknitter |

I am an American living and working in Austria I have a resident visa because my wife is Austrian I have access to the country's health care system According to the WHO Austria ranks 19th Earlier this year my wife was hospitalized for a week This would have cost over $100K in the States Since health-care comes out of taxes, we had no additional charges Incidentally an Expat publication ranks Austria 4th South Korea, Taiwan, and Denmark are 1,2, and 3 Comment from : Greg Alonzo |

I couldn't watch this past two minutes I taught English in Japan years ago, I got sick twice, saw specialist twice within a week or so went to the hospital for expensive tests and exams Didn't cost me anything Three years later back in the USA I got seriously sick and didn't have insurance I'm permanently disabled because of it and struggle every day with severe painbrI'm in tears now as this video reminds me of it This country is ruled by psychopaths and sociopaths brI try to explain to people that they are being lied to but they won't listen, "Love it Or leave it" is the attitude and sometimes the words Even with doctorsbr I'm grateful to the Japanese people for their help Wish I could do something in return brWould it make any difference if Americans could see how every day in this country how many people go to the doctor and get a devastating diagnosis and have the worry and stress of how they are going to pay for treatment? They lose their life savings or their houses, their jobs Or the diagnosis comes too late to do anything about it because they didn't go to a doctor sooner because of lack of insurancebrIf I were younger I would consider getting out of the USA At this point staying and trying to make the US better is likely a lost cause Comment from : Guacamole |
minor nit pick: Tomatoes in Europe are not created equal Neither are the tomatoes in the US Compare a nice heirloom tomato from a farmer's market to the average tomato you can buy in most Central, Western and Northern European countries and tell me again how much better European produce is ;) Comment from : justaname |
The NHS over here in the UK is a joke You are lucky if you can get a face to face appointment with your GP within a month If you're unlucky enough to need an operation in hospital, you can wait a year plus 5 times my op has been cancelled The woman next door had her's cancelled 9 times She waited nearly 2 years And miss diagnoses are ridiculous When mistakes are made by incompetent doctors the NHS just closes ranks round them to cover up You don't want to base your system on ours Comment from : Christopher Hickman |

Malaysia birthing a child $1000 all in, Csection, pre and post doctor visits, meds, private room, great private hospital, everything Of course it would have been basically free back home in Canada but no Malaysian passport for the child in Canada Comment from : Cameron Rogers |

As a Malaysian, I am seriously appalled with the high cost in USA In Malaysia, if you go to government hospitals or clinics, we are separated by whether you are a government servant of private workers For outpatient care, the cost is free for government servant and for private workers, you only need to pay RM 1 (around USD 025) That includes the consultation fee, and medicine For me, I suffered from high blood pressure and also diabetes (which I am not proud of) Whenever I go to the government clinics for consultation, I also paid RM 1 for the overall checkup, lab tests and also medicine (which can last me for 2 or 3 months before another checkup) So, I think the Malaysian medical system is not bad and I am proud of it Comment from : Black Jacket Cinematics |

When people say the US has the best healthcare system they aren't referring to cost They are talking about access and optionsbr In Europe people pay for their healthcare with taxes while in the US we pay for it with insurance br Typically nobody spends more than 10 of their income on insurance while in the EU they pay twice as much in taxes and don't have the ability to sue for malpractice as in the US Comment from : William Penn jr |

I think you have to look at the report and analyze it a bit better One of the things they looked was equity in healthcare So when you look at the country like Canada that has free socialized healthcare, whether you pay 10 million in tax or you're on welfare you still have to wait 6 months to see a specialist How could that be fair? I guess the guy that is on the dole might think it's fair You also have to look at the technology, and the types of operations that might be required So for normal everyday things, I agree the US is probably very far behind because the service is profit oriented But if you need a life-saving operation that is highly complex, you probably won't get better than the Mayo clinic or the Cleveland clinic which are both rated number one and two on the worldwide rankings of hospitals But these things come at a tremendous cost, and they're unaffordable for the vast majority of people As you get older, you generally need more health Care, and it becomes more expensive So I think one has to look at this report with a grain of salt That said, I think the US spends more per capita than any other country in the world for healthcare, and does not have anywhere near the healthiest population in the world That's because they practice sick care instead of healthcare Comment from : Marvin Fine |
You dont pay fewer taxes in the USA than Europe Work it out Comment from : Joe Bloggs |
Can you try making a video about countries with better higher education than the USA Comment from : KainSpada |
The healthcare industry in the United States Because of the nature of business and capitalism brAlong with organized crime Has systematically dumb down its healthcare industry standards brIn order to make college graduation rates go up brAt the same time the older generations of more qualified knowledgeable doctors Retired early because of the changes to the system by the Obama administration To force insurance company and doctors to treat people Even if they couldn’t afford it brThere has been this push by political policy makersbrTo cram as many people into the healthcare industry as possible To cope with over population and the lack of job availability The result is a bloated expensive healthcare industry Where it’s practically impossible to find a qualified knowledgeable doctor The insurance companies are also policing themselves So it is practically impossible to have a successful medical malpractice lawsuit brThe healthcare industry in America Has been broken by corporate greed and government meddling In other countries it’s still possible to find doctors doing their job for the right reasons Not because they care about getting rich Like most of the college graduates in the United States Comment from : Charles Hawkins |

I'm Venezuelan and one of the reasons my family emigrated was because of how much the healthcare system had decayed from the lack of resources the crisis providedbrVenezuelan doctors are actually really valuable in other countries like Chile and Spain so there has also been a lost of professionalsbrNow I live in Costa Rica and the peace of knowing I can be taken care of in an emergency without worrying about not finding treatment or having to pay huge amounts of money is great Comment from : Gato Lector |
In the USA health care is more related to self responsibility than in the socialist countries This is why healthcare in the USA looks so bad: USA citizens DO NOT WANT PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY! You (nomad) are contradicting your own situation! I contend that people in YOUR INCOME BRACKET can have the BEST HEALTHCARE AVAILABLE IN THE WORLD IN THE USA! The richest people in the world fly to the USA for their serious health problems Comment from : glasslinger |

I have heard that India has fantastic health care at a reasonable price I am just curious how much health care costs in Uruguay though The sedentary environment of the American Economy along with the introduction of the Green Revolution, which really took off in 1970, has led to a majority of America's Chronic health problems we deal with today Just my opinion Fast Food economy aint helping much either Comment from : Richard Allen |

I would like to see you do a deep dive on purchasing healthcare insurance as a 70 year old expat in some o these other countries When you're young, these insurance options are probably reasonable But when you hit those 'golden years', I think the affordability of healthcare coverage relying on healthcare insurance goes out the window Plus, I believe they can deny coverage each year when you re-apply This would be an important topic for many of your readers and followers Comment from : Bob Estremera |

Even though the US has Medicare and Medicaid between both State and Fed, they are not the dominate ones, the dominate type of so called healthcare in the US is Private and that in essence is not a Healthcare System, it is instead a Wealth Care System since its top priority is not the Care of the people but of Profitbr I myself have used both the US system, and I have been to countries in which I have either talked to a person native to there about their Health Care, or I have had an incident come up, in this case it was with my med's, and had to ask for use of that countries Universal Health Care in which I payed vary little even though, thanks to the US way of thinking, I was thinking at first I was going to have to pay a ton morebr That country was Costa Rica Comment from : Nick Masuen |
