Do you think the technology changes will be permanent moving forward, or that we’ll go back to pre-covid norms without Zoom, etc? Comment from : Alright Bet |
Ashley, brbrEven in the best of circumstances, planning an event such as a wedding can be stressful I had a friend who went to a wedding in March 2020, and she tested positive for COVID-19 and other guests I'm sure not all vendors will survive the financial setbacks associated with COVID-19 brbrWhat efforts can be made to prepare for the possibility of a future pandemic?brbrExcellent workbrbrRichard Comment from : Richard Gutierrez Jr |

Ashley, you nailed this! From the connection that we all have to COVID to the wide variety of participants that you had that represented different pieces of the events and tourism industry, The connection to technology was something that definitely hit home for me as my work was shifted to a lot of virtual meetings with students and co-workers On top of that, the reality of the supply chain issue makes me think about how this will effect us moving forward! Again, this was fantastic and I really enjoyed it! Thanks again Comment from : James Sherman |

Hi Ashley, great presentation! Did you during your study get any feedback on price increases due to the limited availability and backlog for weddings that had to be pushed back? I can only imagine what the increase for a typical wedding might be during COVID Comment from : Arsenal Softball |
This study was extremely relevant during this time I would be interested in seeing the difference if a larger study was conducted as you state this in your limitations, as well evaluating the effects now that things are "opening" up Are the people you interviewed still working in the event's field, or did any think about changing fields? The pandemic was definitely tough on the event industry I found it really valuable to obtain input from different vendors that are needed for events Comment from : Jesica Barrientos |
Ashley, you are leading a huge representation of the tourism and event industry This is groundbreaking, as they are very much overlooked due to the pandemic taking precedence Giving these industries a voice during a horrific life event is the type of forward-thinking this organization desperately needs As you touched on how the industries made changes to overcome social distancing and lock-downs I am curious to know what the hang-up was with the supply chain challenges? Comment from : Erin Wyrick |
Ashley, I really liked the minimalist style of your presentation The QR code was a nice touch! It connected to how the tourism industry has add to adapt to COVID-19 by using things like QR codes to replace printed menus Your topic was very relevant and important for the tourism industry Learning about how the supply chain has been impacted seems like one of the most important takeaways How do you think your study will help organizations? |
I really enjoyed your research because it’s such a relevant topic that can relate to everyone in some way, since we have all been going through this pandemic together Do you think venues and businesses ever felt pressured to open up earlier than might have been deemed “safe” because they were losing money? I know from personal observations there were many weddings and traveling still happening in 2020, even when there were still pretty strict safety mandates in the US I just wonder if people opened their businesses back up because they genuinely wanted to cater to their customers or if they were only doing it to keep their business running Comment from : Carisa Garza |
Ashley, Wow! I loved your presentation COVID-19 has impacted everyone one way or another I know that there has been a negative impact in the events industry, but did you get any feedback on the positives? Being in the cleaning industry we have the mentality that cleaning is a thankless job but when COVID-19 hit our cleaners stepped up and put themselves at risk to keep others safe All of the sudden everyone knew the cleaning staff and the role they play in the workplace Again, excellent presentation Thank you for sharing Comment from : Enixe Castro |
Ashley, with the tourism industry being so wide-ranging and diverse: did you have some difficulty establishing patterns for findings as they were influenced by the pandemic? Comment from : Manuel Gutierrez |
Thank you for highlighting the events and tourism industry They provide such joy and employ so many folks, and were really effected with the lockdowns I am curious like a commenter below, do you think that this move has pushed to keep some of the protocols? Were some of them innovations that made things easier ( that wouldn't have happened without the push of the pandemic)? Comment from : Marissa austin |
Very interesting!brDo you think the mostly online format of catering to couples searching for vendors is making the field more competitive or easier to be seen? Comment from : Jake Griffin |

Ron here,brWonderful video! Great info!brWe all had to make a few changes these past couple of yearsbrWhat other changes did your participants make to make sure their companies stayed afloat during the shutdown? Comment from : Ron Wilkinson |
