In order to travel you need a high tolerance for people: crowds and noise basically I just can't enjoy the places I want to visit and learn about in that manner, just getting on a plane is challenging enough for me

About 20 years ago, I visited the Roman baths in the town of Bath - they had just re-opened after being restored, and looked amazing While I was there, an older couple walked in The husband had a video camera viewfinder pressed against his eye - for the entire time he was there I’m not sure where the couple was from, but I think they had travelled from abroad - maybe America or Canada - imagine coming all that way to only look at Europe through a camera viewfinder……

I also blame social media (Instagram) where influencers spoil every little hidden gem spot and now not only mainstream places like venice are crowded but also small hidden gemsbrFor example, the Mürren via ferrata trail in Switzerland (short easy secured trail with iron bars and a breathtaking view) was not that known but in the last 5 years, it became like an entire queue line hike
