I found the traffic and parking much easier than in Sydney And the Getty Centre is incredible The beaches themselves are a bit meh, but the beach culture is great If you want to see stars on their day off, try the Melrose Trading Post, and West Hollywood Great video though, very enthusiastic and makes me want to go back Comment from : Di Challis |

I live here in California Good tips for people who want to come visit LA You were right on the money in what they should expect and do Yes, traffic is terrible, plan ahead Always carry cash with you, because there are some parking areas in LA that only accept cash If you leave the homeless alone, they won't bother you Yes, LA has a lot of homeless Sad to say, because no one deserves to be homeless Beaches and amusement parks are awesome to see Enjoy, if you come to California Comment from : Stella Gomez |
As of July 2023, the homeless population gone worst Like Wolter said, skip downtown and if you want to see the Hollywood Blvd do it in the daytime Ignorant tourists being scammed and pick pocketed Actors doesn't live in Hollywood, they live in Malibu, gated homes in Beverly Hills and Calabasas Like Wolter said, go to Santa Monica beach and the Ghetty Museum, you are safer out there Public transportation are not the way to go around Los Angeles Rent a car and suck up the traffic, it's not gonna go away Unless you have a lot of money or you know someone where you can stay for a while, do not move here If you are an aspiring actor/singer, get ready to get your butt popped I had great years living in LA in the 90s it's one of the best years of my life Stay safe and listen to Wolter Comment from : School of Alchemy |

Hi thank you for these very helpful videos I'm on my holidays to LA Hermosa beach in 2 days time Now I'm a smoker of cigarettes which is going to be a huge challenge for me Are there designated areas for smoking? I understand not on beaches or in parks or outside of public buildings is a no no Failing this the only place I can have my cigarette is in my family's home? Once again thank you for all the tips Comment from : Tchalla Cap |

Definitely do not travel rush hour I'd argue slightly with the not using the public transportation The metro is good for taking a big chunk of distance out of an otherwise expensive uber I do this constantly in LA It's not like the London underground, it's not nearly as good, but it is often faster than road transport and definitely less expensive Metro to somewhere near your target, uber the final mile Or just walk LA is shockingly walkable if you take that approach and are young and fit enough to saunter a mile Just take a hat and sunglasses and a long sleeved white shirt to keep the sun off, especially in summer, and be ready for locals to claim you can't do what you've just done because they can't walk anywhere Comment from : Huffers |
I remember a few years ago we went to LA as part of a road trip in America, the traffic was freakin brutal, it took 3 hours to drive 3 miles It was so bad I would genuinely would rather have WALKED Comment from : ShioYoutube |
Biggest don't isjust don't go there, terrible trashy place to go! Comment from : Leo |
I live in LA and most of the people I know would not bother with Disneyland It's a local joke to many of us It's pretty much overrated, expensive, the rides aren't great and the food is horrible Knott's Berry Farm or Magic Mountain are better options if you must go to an amusement park Unlike European cities there's not much here very interesting for free The museums are really good but you probably will pay Not what you call a great city like Berlin or Rome when it comes to interesting historical spots It's very commercialized Pasadena would be good since it's only a 20 minute drive from LA and it's actually very walkable, clean and has lots of nice restaurants Of course the beaches, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Melrose Ave, etc are ok too Comment from : alaplex100 |

There is ni traffic at 2:00 am , unless there is an accident Yea, traffic, because people work in other cities and work in Los Ángeles and areas near Los Ángeles Don’t mess with homeless people, homeless mess with us, too many crazy people living in the streets and politicians do nothing to fix the problem Hollywood is a terrible place to visit I live 5 mikes away from Hollywood and hate going there You can go downtown now is safer and better Let me tell you that now food is so expensive, theme parks:Disney, Knotts Berry Farm, Magic Mountain fare is so expensive, about $100 or more per person Visiting Los Ángeles has many thing to do, inexpensive and expensive, it all depends on how much money to you have to spend Summer is the best time to visit, but airplane fare is more expensive Comment from : Oscar Valencia |
Do NOT miss taking photos at El Matador Beach 10 miles north of Malibu There are rock formations coming out of the ocean & caves Madonna shot her Cherish video there & tons of model shoots in the winter there & artists Make sure you pay for parking or you’ll get a hefty fine Comment from : Therese Ember |
Do NOT book your stay at the Cecil Hotel You’ll be next to Skid Row which can be really scary Prison buses literally dump people off there, so avoid that area like the plague Just know that the LA Downtown District like the Flower Mart is right next to Skid Row It’s also tons of one-way streets that are really confusing to navigate The Jewelry District; the Textile District; the Diamond District are in Downtown but it’s a really sketchy area Comment from : Therese Ember |
LA County is 100 miles If you go to Rodeo Dr, also walk across the street & walk inside the Beverly Regency Wilshire Hotel (“Pretty Woman”) Most people love all of the expensive cars on Wilshire Blvd Comment from : Therese Ember |
If you drive in LA, immediately get in the lane that you need to be in at the end of it Lane 2 is usually good If you see white broken lines, it means you’re going to lose a lane Move over People in LA don’t put their turn blinkers on because when they do, other drivers block them, so just sneak into a lane And it’s no big deal if people honk at you It’s normal Try to call someone to drive you around because it can be intimidating Comment from : Therese Ember |
In LA, if you need to get there by 9 am, start driving at 3 am Comment from : Therese Ember |
If you're going to go to the beach in SoCal either go to Malibu, like Zuma Beach or Paradise Cove, or go to Manhattan, Redondo, Hermosa, or some of the beaches in Orange County Otherwise, you will see a lot of homeless druggies in Venice and Santa Monica I'd also avoid Dockweiler in Playa Del Rey Comment from : Angus Orvid |
Wolter is right about my hometown There simply is no center to it Downtown is discontiguous to the rest of the city It does not feel connected in any way LA is a very diffuse city, so if you plan on visiting places plan carefully Try to find a cluster of places in one local And as a former rideshare driver, I can't stress Wolter's point: don't take rideshare during rush hour It will be nothing but aggravation and expensive It's a waste of time and money, not just for the rider but the driver as well, who will probably be in a foul mood As for our beaches, they are nothing like you would find in Hawaii or Florida If you use GPS don't get hung up on Google Maps or Waze, and don't expect Waze to work magic during rush hour Hollywood is dissapointing unless you want to see more crazy homeless druggies than stars The stars do not hang out in Hollywood You're more likely to see stars in Brentwood, the Palisades and Santa Monica, and you won't see many in Beverly Hills because the Persians scared them away in the late 70s As a restaurant city, LA is second to none Comment from : Angus Orvid |

If you want spic an span go to Tokyo Comment from : Edward Duarte |

As a local I dis-agree with the don't use Metro and don't go downtown The Metro can be very useful, There is a line that goes to many of the Hollywood sites and to Universal as well as downtown There is a line that will take you to Santa Monica and one that will take you to Long Beach Downtown has some great things LA Live, the Grammy Museum, the Music Center and some great shopping I always tell tourists to go to the observation deck of City Hall it is free and has an amazing view Shop in some of the small neighborhoods like Echo Park and Los Feliz Visit Little Tokyo and Chinatown and have some great food in Korea Town and Thai Town or Little Ethiopia Beverly Hills is really not that interesting if you want to see Celbrities go the The Grove you are more apt to there than any where Comment from : timm carney |
As a general rule to get from point A to point B ask a person at point B how to get there from point A They'll tell you the safest route not the quickest GPS is set up to give you the quickest and it does not know you shouldn't be driving into certain places Comment from : Albanwinter |
im happy you dont bring up the beautiful spots in downtown LA, we dont need yall transplants over-saturating everything yall wack lol stay in fairfax Comment from : WLA97 |
It was 2004 when I visited LA Don't wear the colors red or blue (gang colors) if you're be around gang areas You probably won't be in South Central LA, but avoid those colours just in case As a woman, I had many men hit on me and ask if I was an actress beye roll/b I did meet a lot of celebrities Jay Leno, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Drew Carey, Shawn Wayans, and others I went to see some comedy shows at the Improv in West Hollywood As for the homeless situation, it is beyond cruel to see all the beggars on Hollywood boulevard, while the rich sip at their 10$ lattes Comment from : Orchid Treasure |
Great to see someone who is honest and not just looking to bash my city As a native born and raised here, and still a proud son of the city, I do agree with his points I would suggest going to a TV show, like Jimmy Kimmel, or a game show As an aside about the homeless, don't give them money and don't feel guilty, you're not giving them money, for good or not, they are going to give the money to a drug dealer, and that will go to a drug supplier, and eventually it will go back to a drug cartel, and that adds to the destruction in their countries, as well as ours Comment from : Henry Keresey |
Great video! I was born and raised in LA but live in a different state now I go back every year to visit family These are all spot on! I think I've probably seen like 4 celebrities in LA They definitely don't hang around lol I would add cool spots in downtown are Little Tokyo and Chinatown I personally Love Malibu and Venice Some really great restaurants are: Malibu Seafood (worth the wait and the $), Brent's Deli, In N Out, Tommy's, Norm's, Bob's Big Boy (esp the one in Burbank) Burbank has some great shopping too The Getty and the Getty Villa are both amazing This video made me homesick! Comment from : Ashley |
Just go to the “South Bay”beaches of LA (mainly downtown manhattan beach) You won’t see a singe homeless person, and instead will see celebrities if you go into Gelsons on PCH You won’t want to leave It is beyond gorgeous and more $$$ than BH $30M beach homes MANY amazing restaurants Very safe I love living here You’re welcome 😊 Comment from : Serena Rios |
