|
the thing that seems a bit strange in this pyramid is the vision on top, not the mission since the mission is permanent (you cannot really change the reason why your organization exists) and visions can change every 3 years or so, wouldn't it be logical to put the mission on top? Comment from : Simon |

1 Your "Vision -> Mission -> Goals & Objectives -> Strategies (sic!) -> Tactics" is a wrong summary of the Strategy Management process, not of the Strategic Planning process, which means that you don't really know what you are talking about brbr2 The Vision statement is a by-product of the Strategy Formulation process, not a major input or milestone You are presenting some legacy 'strategic' thinking' stuff, and things like "If success was a place, how would you know if you got there?" is just low-value consulting lip-servicebrbr3 Your definition of the Mission statement - just some useless fantasy of yours, I guessbrbr4 Your shallow stuff about Values - just obsolete consultancy slideware that nobody buys today anymorebrbr5 "What are the most important things you should be doing in your organization to accomplish your mission and your vision"? Hahaha :-) That is your foundation for building a Strategic Plan?!? That is COMPLETELY wrong, man!brbr6 KPIs are for "measuring your strategic priorities" What?!? You have NO clue about what KPIs are used for in a Strategic Plan Absolutely NONE!brbr7 "Scoreboard"? What's that? Something you just invented while taking a shower? What's wrong with the individual scorecard, as employed for the past 30+ years in countless Kaplan-Norton BSC implementations?brbr8 Your illustration of the Balanced Scorecard system is no longer in use for the past 15 years Everyone has switched to the 6-stage XPP cycle, except for you and other 'consultants' like you, it seemsbrbr9 The "cascading goals" part shows how decoupled you are from the modern Strategy Management methodology You no longer 'cascade', you Align the Strategic Objectives, NOT 'goals', and that is done vertically, horizontally and bottom-up Surprisingly, you use the term 'alignment' a few slides later, but you don't really grasp what that is all about, so you replace it with some shallow consultant lip-servicebrbr10 On the 'People' part, you obviously have no clue what Strategic Jobs Families are or what roles they have, the most valuable people-related concept brought by Kaplan & Norton inside the Strategy Execution methodologybrbrConclusion: If there are 1 million people who buy this kind of stuff that you present here, I hope that there are at least other 100,000 people who really understand what Strategic Planning is and how it works Not learned from you, of course Comment from : Mihai Ionescu |
|

|
Excellent presentationbrbrLet me add corporate strategic budgeting for 10 to 15 years with the core objective of an organization to make profit, after caring for corporate social responsibilities, to give reasonable return on investment of shareholdersbrbrTo give reasonable return to shareholders every year for say 15 years, a corporate strategic budget for 15 years to be prepared which will dig out many problems during 15 years and will be addressed here like products, capacity of production, hr and hr development, diversification, BMRE of plant (balancing, modernization, replacement abd expansion) availability of other resources etc Comment from : Syed Imtiaz Abbas Hussain |

What more, like your offering Comment from : Sirisak Sirisak |
|
This looks good The only concern for me is that you seem to be placing the Vision on top of the Mission I think it should be the other way around The Mission should drive every sphere of operation, planning, strategy, and vision The Mission is the core purpose and reason for being If the orgànization gets it right there would be effective alignment Others it might seem that the tail wags the dog Comment from : ACNWADEI |

This video provides practical insights and valuable tips to make strategic planning exercise more effective Hope you will present more videos that will help people work together not only for the benefit of their organizations but for all those who need these valuable information Thank you so much Comment from : Joseph Escorial |

This video was a great way to understand strategic planning and the importance of knowing how and what goes into strategic planning It simplified the process, and I see strategy alignment with both vision and purpose as a more significant part of strategic planning Starting with input and analysis, one should include both internal and external stakeholders Successful strategic planning depends on many things Most importantly, everyone has to be on board We need to ensure we provide all necessary tools, obtain buy-in at all levels, and provide effective strategic plan communication A vision statement that motivates and inspires all levels of an organization will help employees meet the various goals and objectives which make the vision come to fruition The pyramid is an excellent visual aid to understand this better Another good point of the presentation was the piece on risks Try to anticipate risks along the way and formulate ways to mitigate them Cascading goals was something I hadn’t thought about, but I see now how this is part of the alignment It is not only one level of the organization that is responsible for achieving goals and objectives Lastly, there are choices Strategy is all about making choices along the path to reaching the organizational vision Comment from : Esther Esparza |

This video from SME Strategy Consulting on strategic planning went into some solid detail around how to structure the strategic planning process I have not seen in other videos brbr
brWhat most videos like this touch on is the “cursory view of strategic planning” “Where we now, where we are going, what we need to do to get there, etc” I thought the point that focused on “internal inputs” was a good because that could serve multiple things such as, thinking about the stakeholder enables you to focus on the communication in a more targeted way Aligning to key contributors or participants helps solidify more ownership The point that highlighted “going after a “big goal to polarize the team” is something important to consider in the planning phase in terms of risk vs value Going after a “big goal” can grab attention A team can make a “big splash” going after something big, but it is not without risk Starting with some “quick wins” might be better to build momentum, buy-in and confidence around the plan Another point I though was important was “understanding culture” The better the plan considers culture, it helps to align the message and the blueprint for your strategy more precisely Establishing and monitoring KPIs along the way sometimes do not get enough focus but is clearly the yardstick to measure how you are doing and provides an opportunity to course correct
brbrI found this video valuable because it pointed out several key topics in strategic planning that perhaps don't get highlighted enough Comment from : Nick Sisto |
