I got a Bachelors of Arts in recreation, sport and tourism management in Canada I luckily had a scholarship for most of it Moved back home to the USA and it is extremely difficult to find full time position with benefits Also highly dependent on where you plan to live on the job opportunities

I have a BS degree in Parks and Recreation Management I worked as a Recreation Supervisor for just over 9 years After being a recreation specialist for 6 years before that When i left i was making just over $46k I loved my job I worked with at risk students 16 to 25 years old Very rewarding brWe had a hard time keeping staff do to the evening hours and weekends shifts We worked when others played that is the job of recreation But I always said i got paid for playing

You’re best bet is to get into government parks and recreation departments They can be highly rewarding once you are in The difficulty is getting in You might have to take a part-time or volunteer position with that organization, but if you network really well, show an eagerness to learn and grow, when a job opens up they will likely hire internally over external

next september, i’m going to be studying events management you don’t need a degree to do the job but as i have no experience i see the value in the degree teaching me what i need to know in less time than if i was going to start from the bottom the degree can also help you get higher positions uni can give you the chance to build your CV and still get just as much experience in the industry too events management is a growing industry (especially as i want to specialise in business and hospitality) and being an event manager also gives you many transferable skills :D

As someone who has a rec degree, this is a bad take You obviously don’t know anything other than poorly researched talking points Maybe ask someone actually working in the field and they’ll tell you that jobs are abundant, pay has its ranges, and satisfaction is higher than any other field I’ve seen

Rec and leisure grad here, and I am in the regret camp I noticed that all the people that held positions I was going for did NOT have rec degrees Other than therapeutic rec, you don't need a rec degree to work in recreationbrI feel like I fell for the do what you love messaging of the time I never really found a good rec job and followed other opportunities Eventually went back to school in my 30s for data science since it was something I was always good at, finding a job was much easier afterwards

Leisure studies or sport science is very valuable in working with elders or kids after school activity's! Could be just a place where kids hang out after school and teens

A video I saw on 2021 grads brought me here One of the people featured was graduating with this degree and was having a hard time finding jobs For me, I tried to search Reddit about this degree and saw absolutely nothing Zero Zip So was curious what she was actually gonna do with it I mean I will argue that even English, Psychology, History, Film, and Arts majors have bsome/b (lots of) options and directions with their career paths but recreational studies??? Also bstudies/b aaaah!!!

I'm currently studying Nature Park and Recreation I'm adventurous and i love the wild Trust me this is the most non stressful degree ever if you dont mind the mosquito I went to the islands, mountains, caves The most exciting subject is marine park where we got to scuba dive at coral reef Its worth it

I haven't watched this video yet tbh, but I just want to comment here because you might read it I literally spent 2 days (almost 10 hours in total) watching your videos on choosing a major, and I am truly grateful for having access to your content I live in Paraguay, and I plan to study a business degree in the USA, so having your informational videos with a realistic view is so valuable I'm still evaluating which major is the best for me (keeping in mind the Ikigai concept), but now I have a way better understanding of majors out there I also love your unbiased opinions, researched facts, sources, video formats, and briefness with a touch of humor Just wanted to say thank you and wish you much prosperity in your projects because they deserve to be successful If I could give you feedback on something, it would be to be a bit more animated while speaking, although you may don't want to pretend a personality that you are not I believe it can help you to attract more people and keep them hugged--sometimes your voice sounds monotonous Cheers!

Whenever I hear the prices of school in America I cringe In my country university is incredibly affordable so you can easily justify a liberal arts degree that you are passionate about and not worry that you won’t make enough money to get out of debt In America I don’t see any value in a none STEM degree It’s really a shame, I am loving my history degree and plan to go into teaching because I love it so much If I was American I wouldn’t be able to justify doing what I love
