So don't mention direct dumping of sewage & trash into ocean This is NOT innovative Same old colonization Comment from : Savannah M Laurentian |
Ever notice how the people that design these buildings and have these ideas, never live there themselves?! People aren't stupid enough to ignore the massive differences in the ocean's waters It's undulations and surges Along with aggression the sea can produce that can last long periods of time and be terribly destructive It won't work As you can see from the ones already trying it Comment from : Katan Akuma |
Poor engineering and design Build high speed mass brtranportation This is so ignorant Comment from : ngenes1 |

Nothing to do with climate change many of the world's coastline or islands are suffering from subsidence there's no catastrophic sea level rise the IPCC computer modeling is flawed this is nothing more than scarmongering Comment from : malawidick |

It's like breaking the ice: brSomeone has to show that moderate bBIG/b floating cities isn't a bad idea, before investors are willing to build new cities on the seabrBecause otherwise they think it's like BOAT (Bust Out Another Thousand ) - and many of them Comment from : Lars Hansen |
As a (sailboat) sailor, I has one simple question: Would those water-cities survive a cyclone/hurricane?brMy problem is flat the walls, which are an excellent sail A hemisphere or something like that, would be better IMHO Comment from : Lars Hansen |
The weather always changes The world has been warming up for the past 12,000 years The sea has been following suit Comment from : William Taylor |
I've always thought about this, is anything stopping island nations from buying disused cargo ships, tankers or cruise ships to build a floating city? Cruise ships especially are already complete and habitable from the get go, but would still need some work to make it acceptable for long term housing We know they are seaworthy, the engineering behind them is more than proven, so why waste time and energy trying to come up with a solution when one is already staring them right in the face?brbrInstead of having the ships broken apart for scrap metal in very dangerous and toxic conditions in 3rd world countries, wouldn't it be better to just repurpose and reuse existing ships? There would still be some large investment needed to modernize them to modern living standards, improved waste water treatment and autonomous power generation, but it would still be cheaper on the long run, I thinkbrbrI'd appreciate it if someone with a brighter mind than my simple one would be so kind to tell me if this would be feasible or not Comment from : Stuntman175 |
10:56 nice hair cut buddy lmao Comment from : Harry Hov |
I think the idea is plausible and a long-term solution I heard the term Architect and Offshore Expert but not the term "Naval Architect" Nor did i here much regarding stability IMO etc And various pre-existing technologies that cover a lot of the issues pondered here Seems like a lot of reinventing the wheel Time to consult the correct people me thinks! The program in the Maldives is just another attempt to get the well off people (the middle class) away from the poor The documentary states that the poor are moving to the capital to access jobs and better healthcare and the floating city is a response to the overcrowding This does nothing to help the poor that move to the capital or those that remain behind on the smaller islands with poorer healthcare and lack of jobs That family of ten living in two bedrooms mentioned is not buying a floating house brbrI don’t have a problem with floating houses but don’t pretend that they are a solution to housing the poor of the world The solution to stop the overcrowding in the Maldives capital city is to provide better social services and get more jobs to the smaller islands, not build fancier homes for those well off All too often those in governments and corporations lose sight of the root causes of problems and try to fix symptoms Comment from : Capital Inventor |
ok, this is for middle class, but what about the lower class, Where will they live?? Comment from : Paul DeLane |
We have build-up our flood plains, marshes and filled most places with impenetrable concrete These are few reasons why the floods have so heavy toll these daysbrbrBut in the 1-2 sea level rise future (likely by 2100), adding just these is not enoughbrbrI'd say: DO NOT BUILD UNDER 3 METERS FROM SEA LEVEL Unless structure floats, is designed to be under 3 meters of water (specially during storms), is build to sink under waves or can be easily relocated Comment from : Martian Soon |
Why not make a adaptable connection between houses? In mild weather the base is rigid and there is no movement, but in the storms you open the flexible joints to move and you gain more survivability You may also use extra pontoons on the edges to give some additional help And you may add flexibility to the side that needs it at that timebrbrActive adaptation Comment from : Martian Soon |
Communities that lives in floating cities should start farming their own food from the seaweed and kelp basis Farming those in the sea may take large amounts of carbon from the atmosphere and give food and some profits to the farmers If you farm other species like oysters in the mids, you gain even wider mix and more profit chancesbrbrYou should also allow fishes and other species live among those farms When doing so, you may get an diverse ecosystem Choosing local species to grow is wise, because bringing foreign species may endanger the local ecosystems and even the farming rig itself Comment from : Martian Soon |

The tyrannical climate change agenda has existed for a long time Elite individuals and politicians worldwide are purchasing luxurious mansions on oceanfront properties They promote the narrative that we are nearly at the point of no return, despite repeating this claim for over 40 years It's hard to understand how anyone could be deceived by their tactics, which involve seeking more tax money under the promise that the weather will improve 😂 Comment from : Jason |

Living in the water is not sustainable What about our sewer? how can you grow vegetables? It will pollute the ocean even more Why don't we just cut emission drastically and take care of our environment by cutting our garbages and not cut trees Easy Find a way to cut unnecessary plastics Why complicate things? Another bright idea of these people to make money Comment from : Jessica and Jude Saligumba |

This is a great idea Sea levels rise and fall They always have They always will, regardless of CO2 levels The mediaeval warm period, the Roman warm period and before that, the Minoan warm period were all warmer than today These were all time periods when human civilization thrived The little ice age, which ended in the mid 1800s was the coldest period since the end of the last ice age Examples; the famous Battle of Thermopylae was only possible because the sea level was several meters higher at that time The famous "Hot Gates" pass has expanded from about a hundred meters in 480 BC to more than a mile wide today Hannibal's invasion of the Italian Peninsula over the Alps wouldn't be possible today because his route is currently obstructed by multiple impassable glaciers Commercial green houses commonly inject additional CO2 into the growing environment because optimal CO2 levels for plant growth is 1000 to 1200 parts per million, which is roughly 3 times the current atmospheric CO2 level Main stream media, including Wikipedia does their best to white wash, obscure and diminish these facts but anyone who cares to actually "follow the science" can verify my examples by looking at the actual Greenland and Antarctic ice core data, and reading the actual scientific literature on the topic Comment from : Jason Holt |
