A lot of people hated Nickleback because they came off as copycats after the success of many other bands that they were similar to They were formed in '95, the same time as Matchbox 20, and were not successful until the early 2000s Whereas Matchbox 20 was immediately successful with their first album Nickleback sounded like they copied a lot of grundge bands to become popular with their first hit How You Remind Me in 2001, but still not as good as the other bands that already saturated the market at the time
