Can someone please review my essaybrbrAn increasing number of schools provide tablets and laptop computers for students to use in school, replacing books and other printed materials like exams and assignments What are the advantages and disadvantages of this trend?brbrWith the advancements in technology and an overall trend to digitalise the world, more and more schools and universities are replacing old methods of teaching with modern gadgets Such modern gadgets have redefined the principles of teaching and learning and this essay aims to understand the costs and benefits of using modern technology such as laptop computers and tablets in schoolsbrbrOne of the prominent benefit of replacing books with gadgets at an early age is that students become more tech-savy and gain the ability to perform complex tasks with the aid of technology Companies and employers are constantly looking for candidates with strong technical skills, such as, the ability to present data on softwares, or to solve complex problems in under a minute using laptops When a student learns these softwares and gadgets are a young age, they become better at it making them more employable going forwardbrbrHowever, this comes with a huge cost as laptops and other equipment are expensive and constantly need to be updated, upgraded and maintained Not only does this add budget constraints, but the school needs to employ more staff who are well versed with technology Additionally, students often tend to get distracted when studying on tablets instead of books as it is easier for students to navigate and browse on different websites and often find themselves on websites that may not be appropriate for their age brbrThe trade off between the costs and benefits of replacing old-school teaching with new modern technological gadgets is a difficult one to make, but yields positive results in the future Students at large find it more beneficial to study with the tools that will be in demand in the future and therefore it may be a wise decision to bring more gadgets to school as its benefits outweigh its costs Comment from : Parina Mehta |
