In Ireland, the thing about queuing at a PUB/BAR counter and, when asked by the bartender what your order is, YOU POINT OUT that a person next to you was there BEFORE YOU is very Irish "I think he's next?" (You let them go first) It's just polite (If you didn't do that, you'd be deemed arrogant and 'pushy') Incidentally, IF YOU DO THAT the bartender will be quicker to serve you next time you go to the bar to order (He or She will have noticed you are mannerly and respectful) brbr The CAR DRIVER WAVING THING is also almost exclusively Irish Though mainly in rural areas Passing a TOTAL STRANGER driving a car in the opposite direction, THEY WILL give you a 'wave' or 'finger flash' just to acknowledge you (No idea why, we just do!!!) It's polite to return the gesturebrbr In CITIES, we REALLY DO say 'Thank You' to the bus driver as we exit the bus (When I first visited London many years ago and dutifully thanked the driver upon getting off the bus people thought I was nuts!!!!) It's just us being politebrbrbr xx SF Comment from : steve sandford |

Ireland got even worse with anti-social behaviors from young Irish people like stealing a lot (Stealing everything you could think of), throwing eggs, mugging, and stabbing, just for 50 Euro worth of items in supposedly safe and luxurious areas Drug is out of control and the police system does not protect you from such things mentioned in this comment Accommodation is limited and not worth the price Sad but True I would even pay a little extra and fly anywhere to avoid this shit h@le Comment from : Ines Werle |

My wife and I are making our trip to Ireland this September Thank you for this VLOG, very helpful and gives us great awareness of being respectful and enjoying the people and country We will be self driving around the southern and western areas of Ireland for about a week, staying at BnBs We are excited to experience such a beautiful culture, one I know that gave us, at least early on, American's a lot of our courtesies and politeness We are not alcohol drinkers, so will we be rude in turning down offers of a pint? I am Irish to the back bone as are all of my ancestors! I have traveled all around Ireland by bus and it is not a “Sin!” to not thank the bus driver because he/she is under pressure to get to the next stop ON TIME and if everyone getting off the bus stopped to say thank you to the driver they would be held up for too long! Px Comment from : Patzi OCallaghan |
