It’s changed a lot, Brisbane started it’s interest in hosting back in 2014 and all the mayors of south east Queensland which includes Brisbane the 3rd largest city and Australia and the Gold Coast the 6th largest city came together to host as a region Due to rising costs and covid the Olympics changed and got rid of the need for expensive campaigns and instead engage in extensive talks and studies to find hosts Brisbane was doing this approach before it was even implemented by the Olympics which is why it so easily became the first city to get the rights to host in this way Right place right time Brisbane will be the Olympics that changes everything in terms of what hosting means
