I have visited the Peterhof, Catherine Palace, The Winter Palace ,the Hermitage and the Habsburg palace in Vienna, but I do not envy or like to stay there During those times these palaces had no toilet no central heating no TV no cellphone no radio no car no instant coffee not mention the incessant cleaning of such a large house I felt happy and contented with my cozy little apartment with the ready hot water in the thermos bottle and my motorcycle parked near my door

or brMICHAUD DE CORCELLES (Hugues) naquit au commencement du XV° siècle en Savoie, d’une famille dont la noblesse remonte au X° siècle, et qui s'est allié aux plus illustre maison du pays, notamment à celles de Salles, de Menthon et de Conzié D’abord Conseiller et secrétaire du Duc de Savoie, Charles III, Hugues Michaud le servit avec autant de zèle que d’habileté dans les guerres contre la France et contre les Genevois Il étais auprès de lui en 1536 lorsque le prince, retiré dans son château de Nice , résista avec tant d’énergie et refusa de livre à l’ennemi ce dernier asile Le Duc de Savoie ayant envoyé peu de temps après son jeune fils Emmanuel-Philibert auprès de Charles-Quint, lui donna pour guide et conseiller intime Hugues Michaud , qui suivit ce prince dans ses glorieuses campagnes des Pays-bas L’empereur fut tellement satisfait des services que Michaud rendit au jeune Duc et à lui même que, par lettres datées de Bruxelles, le 15 Février 1549, il le créa chevalier et comte palatin d’empire, avec « pouvoir ( ce sont les termes de l’acte ) de légitimer les bâtards, de créer des notaires, d’affranchir les serfs,et autres prérogatives des comtes palatins » Le Duc de Savoie ajouta à ces récompenses d’autres faveurs non moins précieuses Michaud ne se sépara plus d’Emmanuel-Philibert , il étais auprès de lui, à la glorieuse bataille de Saint-Quentin, et il l’accompagna encore quand ce prince revint dans ses Etats , qui lui avait été rendus par la paix de Cateau-Cambrésis en 1559 Hugues Michaud fut alors chargé d’aller reprendre possésion en son nom de la Bresse et du Bugey Revenu auprés de son souverain, il continua à jouir de toute sa faveur et fut nommé son premier secrétaire et en même temps Maître des comptes à Chambéry Il mourut dans cette ville en 1572, laissant plusieurs enfants de Nicolle des Molettes qu’il avait épousé en 1564 Sa postérité s’est divisé en, plusieurs branches, dont l’une est fixée depuis longtemps à Nice, et l’autre dans la terre de Mognard puis celle de d’Albens De la première sont issus deux célèbres guerriers qui, devenus aides de camp généraux de l’empereur Alexandre, le servirent avec tant d’éclat dans ses dernières campagnes, et dont l’ainé, ayant rempli en 1814 la mission de rétablir Victor-Emmanuel sur le trône de Sardaigne, reçut de ce prince le titre de Comte de Beau-Retour Le second, marchant à coté de l’empereur Alexandre au siège de Thorn, en 1813 eut le bras emporté par un boulet de canon
