I’m 50 I aiming to be the oldest player to earn an ATP WORLD RANKING TENNIS was my 1st sport I fell into another sport and got sidetracked So get in shape Operate like a professional One foot in front of the other Try to get better everyday No matter how much money I may earn or not, I’m not doing it for the money I play TENNIS to live and help others Not to make a living The “impossible” goals are to stay inspired and inspire someone in this world who is contemplating giving up on their passion or dreams Real talk You can’t really inspire someone doing something they think is possible It has to be considered impossible 🤷🏾♂️ Comment from : PHEENIX WADE |
|
Im 15 and wish I could turn pro but I just have to accept I started playing properly way to late but I need to stop thinking of what could’ve happened and just enjoy the sport casually Thing is being good at tennis will only take you so far and without funding you are lucky to make the top 600 Comment from : Captain Chaos |

My coauthor cycling champion Greg LeMond (The Science of Fitness) wrote down his goals as a teenager Win the Junior World Cycling Championship, win the Olympic gold medal, win the Pro World Cycling Championship by age 23, and win the Tour de France by age 25 Only the Olympic gold eluded him because of the Jimmy Carter Olympic boycott Nic should consider writing an instructional book to further increase his status as an instructor/coach Probably more money in YouTube and online coaching though Comment from : Dr MitoFit |

I think if you want a 1 chance of becoming a professional tennis player, you have to start when you’re younger, I think it’s impossible to start in your late 20s or early 30s, because mid 30s is retiring for most professional tennis players Comment from : Please enter a Name |

Another good way is to read your favourite professional players Wikipedia page which goes through their respective careers chronologically You’ll see that they were basically child prodigies and were spotted well before they themselves even considered the idea of playing pro At 12 years old they can beat 18 year olds It was like this for Jelena Dokic and Kim Clijsters (I read their bios recently) but we can safely assume it was like this for every top 50 to 100 player Point is if you’re a stand out player and competing locally, you’ll get noticed by your local tennis association 🙂 Comment from : Genaro Flores |
|
I have only played tennis once, never followed it much, but its a great sport for fitness, thats why i want to start playing it Comment from : Roopesh Verma |
|
really dont listen to that guy, even pros fail hard thinking they are gods it will just make you play worse, so what does he say when pros hit easy ball to net, wow thats godly mistake i wish i could do that, bri seen some terrible pros, is it too late for you to become pro? depends on your mentality is real answer Comment from : Giedrius Budvytis |
|
you such dream crusher i actually follow some guys who by your discription are in not any way pros because payment for their careers is too minimal they spend 100times more than they earn, but they had destroyed or atleast competed against pretty much elite players Comment from : Giedrius Budvytis |

I want to beat Djokovic Comment from : Saby Mondal |
|
No offense but judging your technique (and I know youre 40+ by now so movement is a little stiffer) brI dont think you could have made it pro and I dont think you beat any good players like you claim in real matches (maybe in training) brThis is not to hate or front, but I think if people ask the question if they can turn pro, you need to have certain things in placebrbrThis is 1) technique 2) game intelligence 3) mental fortitude and 4) a good serve brbrThe rest is all learnable through practice and training Comment from : XYlongevity |

I was the best player for years at my club which was a small village club (literal translation of Dorfverein) in Bavaria (Germany) One day, the Tommy Haas Dad came to court when I was around He had a professional women tennis player (ranked around 300 WTA) with him and asked me if I would like to hit some balls with her Of course, I was happy to do sothis were when I discovered the huge technical gap between me and good players Some years later I moved to a greater city in the area and went to another club Here, I was low averageSo all I want to say is that Nick has analyzed this question perfectly 👍 Comment from : Stranger360th |
|
Hi Nick, two things: First of all, 14 years is rather late for becoming professional although Dominik Köpfer proofs otherwise But what you probably meant is that you could more clearly picture what you are into Second, I used to live literally next door (Doppelhaushälfte) to the Haas family when Tommy and Sabine were active playersThe youngest daughter Karin was actually the most talented kid of them all She played at the age of 12 for fun one season in our women team (2nd lowest level in Bavaria) She won every match with ease I asked her whether she would like to become a professional like her elder siblings She said clearly never ever 😁Tommy was actually never at home but at Nick Bolletieres‘ training camp in Florida and her sister Sabine who was the oldest kid was usually struggling in the qualifying at that stage of her career (I doubt that she did much better before since when I saw her, she was hardly able to play smart and to adapt to her opponents game ) Karin hat sich aufgrund dieser Vorbilder bereits früh gegen diesen mühevollen und oft einsamen Weg entschieden Das war für mich überraschend, aber nachvollziehbar 😉 Best Rainer Comment from : Stranger360th |

Comment from : Rick Blaine |

At the age 10 I went to a bowling camp with this 6 year old and I could never beat him He was a pro and could get strikes while I could only get spares and a few pins The point is: People who started early always get the advantage Comment from : Coaster360 |

Tennis is for girls and children, nothing against this video and the person in it, I am sure he is good at tennis, but it's the perfect game for girls, it is not a true mens sport anymore, yes, men play it, but it is now on the same level as bowling, badminton, pickle ball, it has it's skill requirement, but in general tennis is overhyped, a nice recreational, weekend club game and a great game for seniors, but I have no idea how it was marketed as a world class sport, it's too small of a court to be considered seriously Yes, there is money in it, but it has nosed dived in many parts of the world It was a great sport in the 80's when tennis was really played by decent athletes, the McEnroe's, Beckers, Lendl, Borg, Connors, Edberg, they knew how to play it, S/V, placement, shot making, the game was played at the net, it was exciting, today's players are robot's, relatively unathletic, just standing on the line and booming one serve, move a few feet, boom another, it has lost it's excitement, it's uniqueness, it's romance, its just a bunch of stiffs standing on a baseline now, boring as anything, and the same silly players you see over and over for 10-15 years, ridiculousit lost it's personality Don't bother arguing, I know I am right on Comment from : have a happy day |

44 !! OMG I'm 48 and you look like 30😂 well done 👏🏻👏🏻👋🏻👍🏻 I'm not an expert but for what I see you have a beautiful technique, especially your serve is technically impressive 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻 , about your question I'm not an expert as I said, but I wish you success in any of your endeavours 🙂 Comment from : cesar fernandez lopez |
|
IMHO, a pro tennis player is someone who is making a living from playing tennis, not someone who is making $2,000/year and having to spend $30K to travel and pay a coach, which means he's losing money Comment from : Sylvain B |

Please can you improve the sound volume of future videos I have everything on max and I am still struggling to hear! Please Comment from : Vinay Goyal |
|
My son started to be interested in tennis during the pandemic He was doing well in the group lessons of the club He started talking about Federer Nadal Djokvic:) I told him the chance of turning a pro is less than being struck by the lightning:) I have been my club champions for the last couple of years and probably have a UTR around 9 Obviously I could easily beat my 9 year old son I showed him videos of some nine years old (top 10 in the nation) who had a UTR 9xx I told him this 9 year old could probably beat daddy but still had less than 01 chance to become a pro:) I guess I convinced him Comment from : Eric liu |

This is probably the best discussion I've seen on this topic I got into tennis in my early teens and played for fun Wanted to go pro but coming from a nation where tennis isn't really watched or played all that much and money being tight at home, couldn't go forward with it brTurns out I enjoy playing for fun and I got to play a decent amount in college Also discovered that I had other interests which I love just as much, if not more For me, the balance of tennis and pursuing a health profession worked out perfectly For the most part I enjoy the best of both worldsbrTl;dr : don't worry if you turn pro or not Just enjoy everything you do and do what you enjoy Life's fun like that Comment from : Sam Mitra |

Beyond the skills needed to be a pro, it takes many years for the body (and the mind) to adapt to the rigors of daily practicing, training, and match play Trying to short circuit this process will most likely result in injuries and burnout Comment from : Dean Frazier |
