I have mixed thoughts, because it's not like the hurt feelings that SBC's character caused were invalid, it also was easy to overlook that part of the joke was that westerners are so ignorant they wouldn't realize they'd been had by a someone who's entirely playing to stereotypes and manipulating the tolerance of his hosts for lulzbrbrThis seems like it's more likely to have positive outcomes though, once we're actually aware of how uninformed we are (people in general or westerners in particular) it's easier to inspire curiosity and inform the personbrbrSBC's character probably helped with publicity in the long-term but making that attention become a positive wasn't due to his actions That said, he absolutely could make positive contributions at this point if it was desired If he was involved in tourism advertising or micro-documentaries intended to inform as well as possibly draw tourism interest it would probably be an effective campaign
