In 2002 my aunt celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary by visiting the islands Her tourist group camped on one of the beaches, in a yurt It was so humid and hot they left the flaps open, with just fly nets covering the doorways During the early hours, she felt something tugging at her leg and screamed out in agony It bit the lower half of her leg clean off She said she can remember her tibia crunch like a twig and lost all sensation and feeling She was rushed to hospital by air ambulance The Komodo which invaded the tent spat her leg out on the beach, her husband beat it a nut wrench and bagged the remains of her leg Unfortunately, it was too decimated with chunks missing and poison venom slathered all over it for surgeons to use My aunt is good humoured about it today and calls her prosthetic "Puff" (after that Peter Yarrow song)
