This video has little to do with the economy in China Rather, it comes across as a marketing spot for Shanghai Plus, Shanghai is not representative of China Shanghai is a very special place, and I have enjoyed visiting there But the true China is found in the second-tier cities, rural locations, and manufacturing hubs The situation there is not so rosy at present I have loved China and the Chinese for a long time, so I hope the country can find a way to return to greater prosperity for all Western countries are facing many of the same challenges Both the Occident and the Orient are going to need to mighty gifted thinkers and politiicians to bring us all back to a better place

nice video with the local everyday people being at the forefront but i guess an 11 minute video is never going to be enough for an depth look into how badly skewed/distorted the Chinese economy has been since 2020, but clearly things economically speaking are heading off the cliff very quickly, much like the USA or Europe Central banks and governments are just focused on making things worse for humanity, we all in the same ship on the brink of capsizing as we have seen almost happening in 2008 and 2020

Shanghai is probably the most westernised city in mainland China so in a sense, I’m not sure whether what was shot in the video mimicked the economy outside China or China itself if you really wanna find out about Chinese economy status quo, at least I wouldn’t start from Shanghai

Well, Shanghai is more Westernized than other parts of China (barring HK, of course) Even Beijing is not as Westernized in thinking compared to Shanghai and I worked in both cities before I liked Shanghai a lot better than Beijing, especially when it comes to the weather and the people since they are more open to foreigners However, Shanghai is a first tier city and really the entire China which is different per region, especially with the different Chinese ethnic groups

China's economy was flourishing under Hu's presidency until Xi took over and utilized a more authoritarian approach I liked Hu a lot better because he had an actual degree and more educated rather than the one we have now I also think @CyrusJanssen should probably blur the faces of the young people he interviews as login on to YouTube is illegal in China and he could be fined or jailed for just knowing you and your channel

I would've loved to see the price of the food and know the income of the customers and the supply chain or logistics for the products those store owners have That would've been a good insight on the economy This was more of a simple tourist video which did help me see how beautiful China is though I actually love the scenery and definitely plan on visiting one day❤

Halfway watching the video and I don't see the answer to the question in the title but let me fill in Many many foreign companies have left or are leaving China because anti-West Xenophobia that Xi Jin Ping government is cultivating among the Chinese people The authoritarian government can detain people arbitrarily and charge with spying activity There is really no rule of law No wonder multi-national companies are moving out of China to other countries in South and South East Asia where there is more rule of law and the government is more welcoming to foreign companies and foreigners alike China becomes a victim of its own authoritarian law and arbitrary detention
