I'm looking for a less costly way to cool my desert home From what I understand evaporative cooling only work below 30 humidity Where I am it's regularly above 60 humidity Comment from : Tim Erickson |

"Mangalore tiles" roofing, did the same Comment from : Samuel K |

Also you see videos where they use cut bottle tops same arrangement but the air passing through using the bottle neck pressure to act as a natural compressor to dissipate heat Just like refrigerator compressors work Comment from : ed me |

As a ceramics person, I must ask about the humidity levels in the buildings that utilize this cooling method? Comment from : Marc Isaacs |

Bee hives are wetter than I thought Comment from : MaxBrix |

Neat project I'm a big fan of passive systems I think it's too humid here for these to work effectively Also, if it was 67°F, I'd be thinking about turning the heat on, not cooling off more 😅 The typical a/c around here is about 10 degrees warmer, and they're mostly run for dehumidifier purposes Definitely a neat aesthetic though Comment from : Average Floridian |

Similar to water curtain cooling Comment from : CW |

Evaporative Coolers have been around FOREVER The US sold them as "Humidifiers" many ages ago They work well up until the Air becomes fully saturated with Moisture At that point, they no longer can Cool because the air wont accept any more moisture The idea that you could just make a boatload of waterfalls to cool everyone down also presents its own Eco issues as that can lead to massive weather changes in which the areas get so saturated with moisture, that it causes massive flooding in various other areas, when it rains all of that moisture back down to Earthbrbr The best Eco solution, is not to scrap the AC units but instead, to increase the Insulation properties of every building because most Heating and Cooling are LOST, due to Thermals Leaking Thicker insulated walls + insulated ceilings Much thicker Glass windows to prevent conductive losses (and making things much quieter to boot) As well as putting the masses of Apartments, and businesses, Under Ground, where the temps are Naturally much cooler, and much more Stable (This could also solve issues with having to Plowing and shovel Snow) It would also prevent issues of degradation of cars Rusting, to the salted roadsbrbr This would also allow for larger scale farming, and various kinds of green parks, on the surface Comment from : John Dough |

This works on the same principle as the evaporative coolers They are called swamp coolers in America and work best in dry climates because of the humidity they add to the air Comment from : michael fickel |

It's a DIY or old school portery based evaporation cooler But how much water does it use and energy required to pump and source the water? The local area could become humidity saturated and make them ineffective Also an extreme heatwave could be to hot to overcome to make the inside survivabile Comment from : Gilles de Brouwer |
fyi this will NEVER work in high humidity or without motor pushing the water, and refilling water everyday Comment from : Manoj Bhat |
I am curious what this method of cooling does to ambient humidity Water in the air contributes to the perception of heat discomfort Where does the honeycomb system discharge the heat, since energy doesn't disappear? Comment from : Diana Diehl |

Swamp cooler Comment from : Michael Coffee |
This will only be useful when it is not humidbrbrAlso, how is this different from those "desert coolers" we had at home, where there was a box made out of "khas sheets" and a small motor to drench them with water and a fan to blow air past them? They used to work great during the hot, dry part of Delhi summers, but not at all once the monsoons arrived Comment from : TheLibran38 |
What about where does the water come from?? brIs there enough water in the countryside Comment from : Pammy |
I stopped using the cooling part of the air-con years ago, I open up the house during the summer and only run the fan now, since doing this the house has become cooler by just moving the air around but not cooling it Now when walking past the outlet there is no heat coming from it brThe Summer temps where I live can reach over 50°c during the hight of summer, I have also adopted the Spanish way of living by having a nap at the peek of the heat once past that point it starts cooling down enough that I can go back out side and do more Gardning or more work insidebrI like the idea of the water over the tiles, this would work for my home by having one at the back of the house and one at the front, it will have the added benefit of the water being a natural sound barrier to road noise and just many from the next door neighbour who just can not talk softly when on the phone, I can hear her even when I’m in the back yard and the house is between us😳😳 Comment from : Dawsie |

I think that a way to fix this AC issue of it heating up the air would be both switching to nuclear-based power, and using systems that use a form of cold liquid or ice as a way to regulate temperature Comment from : FuzionZlercika |

Very interesting The concept seems to have come from our traditional jaffries seen all around the mogul structures in India and Pakistan The aga khan hospital in Karachi interesting,y has also used the same concept of Jeffrey walls keeping the air fresh and cool Your idea is also wonderful and worth trying out Comment from : Zantag |

What's the power rating of beehive compared to a desert cooler which also works using evaporative principle? Comment from : Shekhar Sahu |
After rewatching the video 3 times, i still do not see or understand what heat source is it taking away from? I understand evaporative cooling as its the same principle of evaporating water from a medium that is usually a mesh (In this case the clay pipes) If this is the main unit, where is the cold air directed to? Where is the fan? You can't expect falling water from a 10 feet structure going to cool a massive factory without having a guide for the air to go in! Is this the an external radiator for the generator? This looks just like a garden waterfall anyone could make for themselves DIY for decorative purpose Comment from : Myhealand |

i have 3 queries :
br
br1 so this system depends on the supply water temperature as well ?
br2 what is the average supply air temperature it can achieve by normal water supply ?
br3 to recirculate the water, we still need a recirculating hydronic pump ? Comment from : WengOnn Mah |

Using clay material to cool building etc is great Idea which I believe in brBut I don't agree with the point ie taking inspiration from Ants made by one of the founders, I believe while looking at natural examples can provide inspiration for human innovation, it is important to recognize that there are limitations to relying solely on biomimicry for our designs Ants and humans have vastly different biological and physiological needs Ant colonies are built to accommodate the specific requirements of ants, such as their small size, social structure, and food storage Human beings have unique requirements, like personal space, privacy, and diverse living arrangements, that may not be addressed by simply copying ant structures While nature has evolved to produce solutions that work well for individual species, these solutions may not necessarily be adaptable to human contexts Our societies and environments are constantly changing, and our architectural designs need to be flexible enough to adapt to these changes Strict adherence to biomimicry could limit our ability to create dynamic and adaptable living spaces Humans have access to advanced technologies that enable us to develop new materials, construction techniques, and energy-efficient systems Relying solely on natural examples may hinder our ability to harness these technologies to their full potential, limiting our ability to create sustainable and efficient habitats Human societies are incredibly diverse, with varying cultures, lifestyles, and preferences By only following natural examples, we risk losing the richness of our cultural heritage and the unique architectural styles that have evolved over time It is important not to overgeneralize the idea of learning from nature While certain aspects of natural design may be applicable to human habitats, it is not practical to apply this principle universally We should take a balanced approach, incorporating natural design elements where they can provide genuine benefits while also using our intelligence and creativity to develop human-centric solutions Comment from : RailRoad Rao |
