Tyler, I love your videos, and your reactions are usually on point, but not so with what happened in Gander 9/11 You need to learn about it People were stranded The population of Gander nearly doubled that day Planes were stuck on the tarmac for hours while they were vetted (remember, fights couldn't land in the US because they didn't know if there were any terrorists on other planes) The population of Gander almost doubled that day The people of Gander opened their homes and schools to stranded passengers who couldn't just go to a hotel This was a major undertaking, and the people of Gander were heroes

As a Canadian, I'm still confused about Labrador I've always thought of Newfoundland as an island Labrador, the mainland part, is geographically a part of Quebec I'm embarrassed to say that I don't know why it's associated with the island province of Newfoundland, and not the mainland province of Quebec, which it borders I guess I should Google it 🙂

You really need to watch the Documentary about 9/11 and Gander its called operation 9/11 The town with NO notice, welcomed with open arms as if they were family, 7000 people Nearly doubling the towns population in a day This is a tiny town with hotels to accommodate these people So the townspeople opened up thier homes and invited perfect strangers to stay with them And yes, they were stranded This is a tiny town Not a big city Were talking a Police force of Two people

I went to Newfoundland for my honeymoon We stayed at Blueberry Park and hit George St we didnt get too see as much as we wanted to cause we had to catch the boat to labradour We hit that Hwy when it was being made and drove back to Ontario through Quebec

I loved visiting Newfoundland Most of the more populated towns are in the southern part of the island but I loved Gros Morne the best Visiting the site of the viking village in L'Anse Aux Meadows was pretty cool too though I could have done without the two fifteen minute waits on Stubburn road hogging moose The laid back and super friendly people were the best though If you want a bit of a look at Labrador there was an tv episode of survivor man set there you might find entertaining to watch

I'm from Newfoundland, and from the Northern Peninsula where tourism is huge the main attractions are the viking site where the first European visitors set foot on the new worldthere is also a recreated viking village called Norstead In St Anthony there is a living museum where you can walk through the house of sir Wilfred Grenfell the first doctor to provide free healthcare in Canada

Tyler, there was another time the people of Gander NL, stepped up for our American neighbours In December of 1985, a few days before Christmas a US military transport aircraft carrying many US troops returning from, somewhere as well as cargo The airplane crashed after stopping in Ganger to refuel American families travelled to Gander awaiting recovery of their loved ones The community engulfed the grieving families at the most awful time of their lives over Christmas and New Year I’m not from there but we were living in St Johns NL, when it was in the news and folks were talking about it ( it’s pronounced new fun land) it’s cool and damp but the people are funny, and more importantly they are really kind

One of the coolest things was missed! L'anse Aux Meadows which is the ONLY confirmed Viking settlement in all of North America, so it's also know as Vinland It has super amazing views out there and reinactors of the viking settlement in to scale models of early viking buildings (the insides of which were used as reference for the homes in How to Train Your Dragon!) brId highly recommend that people visit Vinland and see what could have been if the vikings truly stayed (harsh weather and quarrels with the natives made it so they never settled)

I’m actually from Twillingate I moved to Gander and now I am living in Twillingate again now In the picture where the boat is trying get through the ice they actually show The anchor Inn where Georgie’s restaurant is, my home is right on the water I see that when ever i walk out my door And they are right, people here are the best, they help everyone they can help with out looking for something in return, it’s a community that loves their community, if you ever come to Twillingate maybe we can go to Georgies together
