As a straight man who just so happens to be attracted to plus-size women, am I also allowed to really appreciate this song for existing? Doesn't matter to me now as an adult, but I remember the confusion and low-key shame(?) This a lovely song and I am a big Mika fan However speaking as a healthcare professional some of these women are morbidly obese and are in danger of suffering from heart attacks or strokes and other complications arising from being being overweight - so whilst it is refreshing to see a man complimenting larger ladies - what he should really be saying is ‘yes, you’re beautiful but please, for your own sake, lose a few stone’brbrIt seems we’ve gone from celebrating sticks on the catwalk, to saying it’s OK to be dangerously above your healthy weight Can’t someone just sing a song about normal, healthy looking girls? That would give off a far more sensible message

I was a chubby little girl when this song was released and, although I struggle with an ED to this day, there's just something about this song that feels more sincere than a lot of other body positivity/acceptance songs Thank you MIKA & to any big girls/guys/nonbinary people, it's such a cliche but I promise it's true: beauty from within will always outshine exterior beauty (still trying to accept that myself but I figured someone might need to see it today) 💕
