I was happy with contactless via my phone but using the Oyster shows your travel history quicker, via the Oyster App, and you know your balance instantly Top up via the App negates any topping up hassle Also I have added my National Railcard to my Oyster and now get 35 off my off peak journeys which I can't do with my contactless card so for me Oyster wins Comment from : Luvslife |

Recently used Google Pay as a tourist in London I have a digital bank account with Wise (formerly TransferWise) which makes paying in different currencies super easy Worth checking out I'm not on commission, I just love the service and used it across so many countries! Went to London in February (from Canada) with the thought in mind of using my contactless debit and Visa cards, as well as Apple Pay on my phone for everything Only problem is, as soon as I tapped my cards or phone, my bank disabled the cards immediately Found this out at 6:30 in the morning when I took a cab from Heathrow to my hotel in Paddington and locked all of my cards trying to pay Luckily I had cash but it was still annoying having to call these card issuers back home at 6:30 in the morning brbrNot sure if this is every bank, but afterwards I found out that my particular bank disables cards when they're tapped abroad in order to prevent use of the cards should they be stolen Good security, but terribly inconvenient and annoyingbrbrAlso, I did call my credit card companies to tell them that I was going to be travelling abroad and they told me that it hasn't been necessary to call ahead since 2007 Sooo explain that one Comment from : Andrew PC |
