Doune Castle (Winterfell) was used in the very first season episode 1 Also Monty Python Holy Grail and Ivanhoe among others too It was 500-700 metres from my house growing up I used to play there in the early 80s before it was as big a tourist attraction I remember the sand pit near by too God memories I used see it everyday going to Doune nursery and primary school

if you decide to go to dubrovnik i can also suggest going to the island lokrum which is a 15 minute boat ride they also shot a few scenes there besides its breath taking also the bunnies are cute and the peacock males are beautifull
