I am in the process of filing for residency - just gotta get a bank account open Once I get my "golden ticket" showing that I am just awaiting approval, does that mean I don't have to worry about the driver's license situation, or do I still have to leave and come back? The 90-to-180 days change was done at the request of the Costa Rica "Camara Nacional de Turismo (CANATUR)" to aid in increasing tourism profits in Costa Rica by allowing longer stays for tourist from "tier one countries", (ie ALEMANIA, ANDORRA,ARGENTINA,AUSTRALIA, AUSTRIA, BAHAMAS, BARBADOS, BRASIL, BÉLGICA, BARBADOS, BULGARIA, CANADÁ, CROACIA, CHILE, CHIPRE, DINAMARCA, EMIRATOS ÁRABES UNIDOS, ESLOVAQUIA, ESLOVENIA, ESPAÑA, QATAR, USA, ESTONIA, FINLANDIA, FRANCIA, HUNGRÍA, IRLANDA, ISLANDIA, ISRAEL) The Costa Rica immigration department ("Migracion y Extranjeria") on 15 June 2023 "reformed" the "reglamento" for the issuing of visas to enter Costa Rica [REF: DIRECCIÓN GENERAL DE MIGRACIÓN Y EXTRANJERÍA/ CIRCULAR DG-12-05-2019 [Article 7/ item i) & 8)] as well as the "extranjeria" rule (number 156) to issue a 180 days visa where previously was 90 days for the subcategory of non-resident tourists Corresponding updates to Driver License requirements to accompany the Visa extended period are in process Comment from : John Doe
