I'm heading to France next week so I'm doing a last minute bit of prep for need to know phrases I'm a little confused because other sources have told me Je voudrais in place of J'aimerais, is there a difference or are they just different ways of saying the same thing? Short and to the point Thank you My wife and I have been to France many times and are thinking about retiring there My biggest challenge with speaking my very limited French is not those basic words to say, but rather understanding the answers! If I open with a French phrase or question to a Frenchman I get a french answer which I don't understand! awkward The pleasantries like bonjour, merci, s'il vous plaît are useful but beyond that as a tourist with no French language skills I will always have to ask if they speak English right off the bat Comment from : Joe B |
