So good that Krakow survived the war, unlike other cities brlike Gdańsk, Poznan, Konigsberg (Kaliningrad), and Warsaw All of those, however except Konigsberg were rebuilt beautifully, however, and are absolutely worth visiting Another city that mostly survived was Toruń

I was sceptical at first, I am Polish and lived in Kraków for 4 years, went to high school there and studied also so Kraków always been in my life I have two comments ;)brThere are 2 salt mines outside of Kraków, Bochnia and Wieliczka, I reccommend visiting the first one if you want something more adventurous, Wieliczka is very touristy Also Auchwitz-Birkenau camp is in Oświęcim 1-15 hr from Kraków, you can buy a tour to go there or just take a bus from bus station( buses go directly to the museum)

Well best thing to do when you have kids around krakow is not Auswitz or Salt mines but Energylandia or the Polish mountains The Jewish quarter is still part of the tourist route, so relatively expensive, try go out the real center for a real Poland experience, both in service as well as in prices Nothing in the center or theJewish quarter is reasonably prices, its all expensive tourist priced Stag parties are fun to crash into when their not too drunk and I had numerous of good evenings guiding them around Krakow All in all I rate this video of advice a 3 out of 10

I live in Kraków and "don't take pictures inside churches" isn't quite right Usually you can take pictures inside churches *when there's no service going on* This is what the sign presented in the video refers to - when there's Mass or another service not only should you not take pictures inside the church but you also shouldn't just walk around naves like a tourist and talk to other people Catholic services are usually solemn and peaceful, the faithful don't appreciate noise or distraction and they would consider it 100 times more disrespectful if the Most Holy Sacrament is presentbrbrThis is why I would recommend visiting beautiful churches in Poland on Monday-Friday between 8/9am and 5pm There are many Masses on Sundays Saturdays are usually OK if the church is not popular for weddings :)

I just got back from Krakow, and I have another tip: Be careful about walking on the cobblestone streets! Your feet will pay the price if you don't have a good pair of shoes and walk on the cobblestones too much By the end of my visit, I could barely walk because my feet were in so much pain, but I probably could have done less damage to my feet if I had brought better walking shoes and tried to stay off the cobblestones more

Quite a few misconceptions brAuschwitz is in "Oświęcim" which is a Town 40 miles from Kraków, it's not "in Kraków" as you said brand Kraków itself is a City not a Town br1+ million inhabitants I wouldn't call a town lol, except maybe in India, but defo not in Europe/PolandbrbrAs for the service, no idea what you meant, I've actually had better hotel/restaurant service here than in Vienna or Bern or Geneva, and for 1/4th the price

Since this or last year there is a new law in Poland that makes it mandatory for the car to stop if they see a pedestrain approaching a crosswalk So the "tourist daze" is safer now ;)

I love krakow but one thing to be very aware off are the money changing scams which are allowed to rip tourist off I changed £320 in one of these money changing yellow booths just off main square they advertised false rates outside to fool tourists when I received my zloty it was the equivalent of around £210 I received for my £320 I released right away and complained but to no avail I was completely ignored my question is why does the law enforcement in krakow allow this to happen it will put many tourists from returning to krakow and it is definitely bad press for poland in general , these exchange places are robbing tourist blind with total protection to do so
