SooooMy father and I have had a strange relationship He's distant, not much of a talker, and has made it clear that he has no desire to be a father He left for 10 years before returning, saying that he needs his family during his last years (he had a illness scare by himself that spooked him a lot) I came over to his new house near me and my mother and attempted to find something that we could do together He's a stubborn man who refuses to let anyone in, many a time will ignore me In the past, his version of bonding was watching movies that I picked that he hated It was so we could bond but he didn't have to talk or do anything I feel bad about it brbrNow that I'm grown and wanting him to get to know me as an adult (he never asked or wanted to get to know me at all in my life), I proposed we watch the extended version of the trilogy He has never seen them, nor had he seen the Two Towers or ROTK even in the theatrical version; he never completed the trilogy So far, we finished FotR (extended version) and I haven't seen him so happy and lively, laughing, thanking me for the adventure we're going on and that he can't wait to see the rest of the storybrbrMoral of this story: Lord of the Rings brings people together
