As a Japanese I'm super grateful to learn English in New Zealand It was super cool to experience the amazing nature (it was 100 times better than japan) The education system was super good, the culture, everything was just perfect for me I really want to thank New Zealand for all these amazing experiences and hope to go there again! :) 🗾🇳🇿

In mid July 2023, my wife and I applied for New Zealand Vistor visas We received visa decline letter end August 2023 We are Indians and have been working and living in one of the best and most peaceful countries in the Middle East for almost 40 years We have visited several countries where we got visas in first attempt We fail to understand why New Zealand refused to give us visas for a month We had booked and paid for everything - return air ticket to Auckland and back, a domestic flight, vans and cars for sightseeing across the country, accommodations in many places, helicopter ride, train journey, etc We provided all details online, including itinerary Yet, the visitor visas were declined We are old and have absolutely no intention to retire in any country, let alone New Zealand We are so upset that we will not be applying again for New Zealand visas Thank you New Zealand

Unfortunately we are crippled by an ever worsening housing crisis and stagnating economy Not as amazing as is usually depicted We are quite similar to Canada in that regards Most of our land is uninhabitable mountainous terrain too There are very few actual opportunities here as well

I ve lived in NZ for a spell and found it cheaper than most place So they must have had very inflation over the last 20 years, but is a place how would very happy to live out the rest of my life in, as I just love the vast open spaces and lack of people The scenery is breath taking and zi will get back there soon

You mentioned low traffic congestion That may be true in rural areas, but not in Auckland The traffic there can be awful and when I visit, I only drive between mid morning and mid afternoon (unless I have no option) Forget driving in rush hour in Auckland - it’s not worth the stress and frustration brbrAuckland is on an isthmus, so a bypass can’t be built - all north-south traffic has to go through the city on the motorway, which can be slow goingbrbrThere is only one harbour crossing If there’s a crash on the harbour bridge, the city is more or less paralysed (There is an alternate route around the top of the harbour, but the second harbour crossing can’t happen fast enough)brbrHousing has been so expensive that school teachers have moved away from Auckland so they can afford a housebrbrI love NZ, but not Auckland

NZ is a beautiful country but many young people see no future, thousands leave the country every year Close to 600k NZ born citizens live in Australia alone now If you have money and established in life I am sure it’s a very nice place to settle down When I asked a Kiwi family why they moved to Australia, there answer was “The beautiful scenery does not put bread on the table”

I live there and I agree lots of positives, but some negatives Crime has become a lot worse, particularly violent crime and ram raid by children There is also racism against Maori and immigrants Maori also cause a few problems with high crime rates, criminal gangs, greivances and radicals We have also had a run of severe weather with heavy rain destroying some of our great agricultural areas, a cost of living crisis, political issues with an unpopular left wing government losing ministers and a over zealous right wing opposition
