You fail to mention all of the followingbr1 Blacks are not indigenous to Southern Africabr2 Blacks did not bring wealth or even an economy to South Africabr3 100 years ago the black population was only 35 million Today its probably around 100 million Consider it was only 30 million in 1994 So an increase of 70 million in 30 years That is not sustainablebr4 Why should my neighbour benefit from my hard work?

As a "born free" South African, I can say that our generation is actually largely accepting of other races Each race has its own culture which it holds proudly to but in a way that allows it to celebrate and appreciate the other cultures of the country too People within the same wealth bracket are comrades, we work together, go to school together, protect our neighborhoods together I feel like this documentary is trying to draw a conclusion that sounds more scandalous than current reality which now makes me question other Vox videos South Africa's only problem is our corrupt, very rich, government who uses our resources to make themselves richer instead of implementing policies to help the poorer communities Unfortunately, people in the higher wealth bracket are generally the ones that have a better education Really it's the public schools, especially in poorer areas, are failing our children; the government is failing our children good luck CNN continues

I’m white and grew up in Somerset West, right next to the Strand This is a good overview of the colonial and racist apartheid past of South Africa but omits a crucial and universal factor - class South Africa adopted a neoliberal economic model when apartheid ended that imbeds inequality and does not share or create wealth for the benefit of all It’s a sink or swim economy, like the USA, where the discourse is concentrated on culture war and not material issues The government’s primary function is to protect capital interests, hence the extreme levels of corruption brbrIt’s going to hurt a few ears here but like many countries it needs more socialism and a proper left politics built by people

My English grandparents, mother, and aunt lived in Port Elizabeth from early 1979 to the end of 1981 before returning to England Part of the reason they did not stay was because of how upsetting they all found living with apartheid to be My family is all white My mother and aunt played with Afrikaaner, Coloured, and Black children, and did not understand why the White South African adults would hassle them My mother actually learned to speak Xhosa fluently brI remember my grandmother telling me a story, that one day while in the family apartment, she was watching an enormous fire billow from the nearby Black community, and she called the fire brigade She did not give them the exact address, but instead directed them to the nearest White house, in the hopes they would not stop to check whether the fire was actually within the White boundary When the fire brigade arrived, they stopped at the boundary, hovered for about a minute, before switching off the sirens and returning to the station Over a dozen people, including children, died in that fire That was the moment my grandparents decided they could not raise their daughters in this country, even if returning to England meant my grandfather would be on the dole Thinking of that fire still makes my Nan cry to this day
