Your idea of a small town or borough is different from my idea of one My town must be considered a microscopic town "come to the big town of Roulette everybody"We have a post office,a small restaurant/bar and even a dollar general store We're like a smurf village here you have to look hard to see us Good luck visiting the rest of the cities you find amusing Comment from : johnny cotrel |

Love your list BUT you seem to attach growth and prosperity as a negative Let's be honest if you eliminate the "ring" counties surrounding Philadelphia Pennsylvania population growth is at the bottom of the nation As a 35-year resident and having the entire state as my sales territory, I can honestly say I've been to every town on the list at least 2-3 times I rarely flew to Pittsburgh from Philly and love to drive the many scenic roads of the state My industry "plastics" was a major industry in the state in the 70's thru the 90's Like a lot of core manufacturing in the state it's moved away but that's a discussion for another day This list is somewhat accurate if you are visiting for the day but to actually live, here's the real top 10 based on these metrics Jobs, economic growth, School Systems, Culture (Art/Dining options), real estate values, proximity to Cities, transportation, mountains, beaches etc The one biggest negative is cost the majority of the following towns are much more expensive to live in on average than the rest of the state West Chester, Lititz, Doylestown, Yardley, Berwyn, Sewickley Kennett Square , Cranberry Twp, Newtown, Pheonixville and Bellefonte I know a real estate agent will have something to say about his but it's only the opinion of a resident who has traveled the state for several decades Comment from : John Riccio |

You missed Montoursville Your pronunciation of towns names is very poor Comment from : Linda Strous |
Mount Carmel has the accent on the first syllable, not the second syllable , also, Bellefonte only has two syllables--not three, the comparison of New Hope to Provincetown is probably because of the predominance of gays (just FYI) Also, have you ever been to borough of Swarthmore??? Just amazed that it did not make the list--or the honorable mention list What state are you from? Comment from : Patricia Sutherland |
I live in Ligonier PA Comment from : cheese cake |

You seriously blew it when you forgot to go all the way east to Stroudsburg, county seat, great shopping, college town, Delaware River water sports, hiking, Appalachian trail access, the beautiful Water Gap, skiing, water parks, theater, live jazz, 23 places to eat along a live main street (and that's just main street,) wineries, old residential homes, green-way creek side trails, strong arts community, Irish pub, DIVERSE residents, unique shops with great pricing, easy highway access for weekend or day trip from metro NJ, Philly and shore area, plenty of lodging of all types @ reasonable rates and four seasons of interest camping in nearby State Forrest, all season recreation and beauty I've lived here for 30+ years and have never been bored! Comment from : Amanda Reiche |

I grew up in the coal region Mount Carmel has the accent on the Car syllable Nothing special; the dominant town was the county seat of Skookle County, Pottstown Housing is cheap but there are no amenities and cripple public transportation When I was a kid the Reading RR went dreckly from P-ville to Philly and had a dining car Comment from : robert feinberg |

Thank goodness you didn’t put the Borough of State College on your list I see you mentioned State College though Having grown up in the area, I can tell you the town is controlled with unruly Penn State students who think non students should bow down and worship them Also, State College caters to the students since their parents pay for everything which generates a lot of income for the town I use to love living there but things have changed for the worse Life in State College 30 plus years ago was awesome Not any more Comment from : Theresa Haines |
