I’m happy with this Even though I buy a new iPhone every year it allows people to see genuine vs fake aftermarket parts This only really affects repair shops so people buy your apple care and call it a day

the strange thing is a broke my iphone xs screen 3 months ago, got it change for an after market one and after i updated to 152 every time i press on the screen while cleaning it the phone dies and wont start unless i plug the charger!

Just to reiterate for those who are disappointed by this news: the self-service repair program is NOT intended for professional repair businesses, Apple still requires businesses to be certified to gain access to parts and manual This program is for professional individuals who don’t mind taking the risk If Apple bowed to ever little demand it wouldn’t be the company we know today And I don’t know about everyone here but I don’t think I want that

Apple keeps on pulling the right moves I like that only Apple original parts are identified as genuine I have been in the repair business for long to know that many shops use very old and overused refurbished parts for repair Many of fellow repair shops actually used to build a full iPhone out of different broken phones Hats off for Apple for doing this, it prevents many people from claiming to have used genuine parts Again here you didn't even refer to this benefit, maybe because you used to use refurbished parts and not disclose that?

apple most likely wants the IMEI ICCID and MEID numbers to program the parts to your specific phone in my case normally an SE 2020 but atm an 5S 2013 as my SE is under repair by my provider

What is good though is that with update 152, it does not have the famously annoying display notification It only says in the settings that the screen is unknown and (I’m guessing) you won’t revive tons of notifications about how the screen (or battery) is non-genuinebrbrBecause of this, I reckon that repairmen (like me) will still be inclined to buy parts from 3rd party repair shops like - ReplaceBase - just because of the fact that the display message (or battery message) won’t be so annoying anymore EVEN if you don’t use an Apple Original screen And I think that Apple knows thisbrbrI reckon they will try to match the price of screens being sold on eBay and other sellers so that if they are the same price, you may as well just get the screen from Apple However lots of 3rd party part stores have trade accounts that make things cheaper for the customer buying as that specific customer has bought so much at the shop Therefore, the people that have trade accounts at certain 3rd party stores, will still continue to use those shops as it will be cheaper and the display message won’t be as annoying

Well basically what this does is anyone buying a refurnish phone, its going to think its device its been " tempered " and its not going to buy it just to be safe, this way Apple ensures not only they are the only ones profiting from selling their parts but also from making people to think refurnish phones are not worth it, making a bigger damage to the enviroment with more electronic devices been thrown away, and just a bonus fact for all the people that think that anyone can hack repair parts, all iphone screens, chips, and parts are made by samsung so you actually own a samsung phone, with an apple logo Your welcome
