Such a shame that AVE no longer has the real first class, forget what it was called That was quite nice, very pleasant Comment from : Nigel Dawson |

Manufactured in Germany, but the technological patents are Spanish, specifically the "praised" design is actually something that Talgo already did in the 60's in the USA, revolutionizing both the interior and exterior design of the trains, something that should be said more often Comment from : The0ldboy |

I took the AVE roundtrip from Sevilla to Madrid when I studied in Sevilla in the Fall of 2007 If I recall correctly, there used to be three classes instead of two: Club, Preferente, and Turista The study-abroad company that I went through included several excursions in the cost of our tuition and room/board, and we were in the Turista section (of course) to save money Comment from : CJWJR |

high speed rail has to stop trying to be like planes with check-in etc if train companies want to compete with airlines it's annoying and takes time and is a big factor why people don't want to use airlines and instead take the train also generally high speed rail needs to be way cheaper Comment from : Guillotine Schnapp |

About the executive room:brAt boths ends of the train there’s a space of 8 seats, but the one located in “Preferente” class has more comfy and large seats and tables (they are the same that the first convoy, wich in the past was “Club” class, but it passed to “Preferente”), the other located at the “Turista” class has the same number of chairs but with the “Turista” comfortbrThe good thing about this zones is that only few people know that one of them are Turista and you can book it, so mostly times you are alone in the compartment Also, it’s a great place because the aerodynamic form of the train lets you to have a similar view of the maquinista viewbrIt’s my favourite tip for every time you will travel in the S-103: to travel alone with front viewsbrbrNice vid btw! Comment from : Esteve Alonso |
|
The "sala executive" was firstly supposed to be a place for bussiness meetings However, since this didn't work, RENFE has changed that into "silence car", a coach where people who doesn't want noise can travel in silence Is a coach where it is not allowed to talk😉 Comment from : Mario Martin Sancho |
|
Good quality product, but very expensive 81€ one-way between a 3h trip from Madrid to Barcelona Would be nicer if it were around 50-60€, spending around 120€ to make a round trip Spanish economy isnt as powerful as French or German AVE is mainly used by people who travel for work or tourists with a good budget Comment from : Adrianibso |
|
2:35 this portion of Madrid Atocha Renfe ADIF resembles Amtrak owned Penn Station Speaking of railway electrical voltages Madrid Atocha is 25kv 50hz AC standard gauge high speed trains 3kv DC Spanish Gauge Trains on the other hand New York Penn Station is 11kv 25hz NJ Transit Amtrak for ACS-64 ALP-45DP ALP-46 & ALP-46A Arrow III Avelia Liberty & Aceela Express 750 v DC Third Rail top contact for Long Island Railroad M3 M7 M9 DM30AC and P32AC-DM Amtrak S100 is also 15kv DC Capable Comment from : EpicThe112 |

So, some comments brThe lounge thingy executive stuff at the end, I think I read somewhere that in new Velaros it is not being built, so perhaps it went out of usebrAbout the opening to competitors: Italian trains are coming to Spain! If I'm not mistaken, from march 2022 some Frecciarossa will start doing high speed services in SpainbrAlso, a high-speed line is being built linking Madrid, Badajoz and Lisbon brBad thing is, RENFE is progressively abandoning its conventional rail network because of their obsession with high speed Comment from : Juan Sánchez |

It’s strange how many people actually use first class in europe, in the UK not many people travel 1st especially on the local routes, the high speed line that goes from my local station doesn’t even have a 1st class Comment from : Tobey Transport |

Not all services departing from Puerta de Atocha are high speed trains The Altaria service to Algeciras is a normal Talgo loco-hauled train Comment from : Tello G |

Hey! Really nice review! Next time if you travel again in a S-103 you should try to book a seat on the "Coche 1" which at first it was the "Club" class (kind of Business Class from planes) Now they're sold as Preferente but you get extra space! It has bigger seats than original Preferente class (coach 2 and 3) and as you said if you go on weekdays you will enjoy a wonderful meal travelling at 300km/h However now with the Covid19 pandemic it's not available I hope that in a near future it will be available againbrbrAlso speaking about the "Sala Executive" it's mainly located behind the driver's cab on car 1, the same coach as the ex-Club class I told you beforebrbrOh! I almost forget, the Turista cars at first they had blue cloth seats which were not so good (at least for me) but they refurbished the interior and changed them to those in black leather which for me are way betterbrbrAlso I must thank you for these good reviews and I'm willing to see more of your trips around the railway worldbrbrStay safe! Comment from : Entro en Banda |
|
630 km in 25hrs is nuts Just amazing Comment from : VivB |
|
Ah, Renfe, probably among the best trains in Europe, but some of the worst service and information provided I mean, if you have to look at bahnde for a timetable involving more than one train, especially of different 'class' (larga or media distancia, Cercanías), because Renfe doesn't give that information straightforward It's almost as if they don't want to sell tickets Comment from : barvdw |
|
Salut tu pourrais créer un Discord stp sinon j’adore tes vidéos continue comme ça c’est super Comment from : Safwan |

Inside the Mainland Spain connections AVE uses the 3 Class configuration Preferente, Turista Plus and Turista and on Spain - France connections AVE uses the 2 Class configuration Preferente and Turista Comment from : Rui Assunção |

I did this journey on one of the 100 serie trains in preferente with full complimentary meal served at my seat, and I only booked two days in advance and only cost €110! Hugely impressive coming from Australia where we have very poor long distance trains! Also my train was going from Madrid all the way to Figueres-Vilafant station as final destination, and the ticket was listed as AVE-TGV was surprised by that Comment from : N Class 468 |

Puerta de Atocha will be going to a major refurbishment The station for high speed is in a dead end A new segment will be added to the west with passing platforms, when the new tunnel open for high speed in Madrid, linking Puerta de Atocha and Chamartin in standard gaugebrbrThe Sala Executive a few years ago was solded as Club class, like a premium class on planes Renfe discontinued this class and now is sold as PreferentebrbrPrivate companies will arrive to spanish high speed lines SNCF with a new brand called "Rielesfera" plans to start operating in Easter 2021 Few days ago, the first new Euroduplex for this brand arrived in Spain for trials and homologation It's said that would be a low cost offerbr It's in a shiny white livery for now They will start with Madrid - Barcelona, expanding to Madrid - Valencia and Sevilla laterbrbrAlso Renfe was to put a low cost service in Madrid - Barcelona called Avlo, but it is stopped by the Covid-19 pandemic by now and zero information about new plans or schedule (Have to been started the last Easter)brbrAnother private company, ILSA, has plans to offer high speed services It will be using new Bombardier's Zefiro stock No earlier service from 2022 Comment from : albe6 |
