HI, that was a very helpful, and well-delivered informative video If you ever do another one, I think the one thing most viewers have in common is we have health insurance already, so I'd have liked to hear how the biggies: Blue Cross/Shield, Kaiser, etc, and Medicare treat medical care needed overseas, if at all And a tech question Your sound was very good but I don't see a lav mic, which is the only mic mentioned in your description What kind of directional mic do you use for shoots like this when you are 3 feet or so from the camera Thanks and best wishes Comment from : Randy H |

Im 72 and my wife is 55 I got a quote from alliance on a 4 day cruise The cost of the cruise was $1066 and they wanted $250 for travel insurance That’s 25 of the total cost Seemed very high to me I have traveled alot over the years and never purchased travel insurance before Is this a typical cost for senior Seems to me like they are saying we don’t want your business Yes I understand if things go bad it can get expensive but seriously things don’t go bad that frequently Comment from : Tom D |

Generali Insurance is a SCAM, When you have issues, they will never call you, nor will you be able to contact them, Be very careful with these companies I had a Dental Issue that happen while in Brazil I called the GeneralI company in Sao Paulo BR, but they had no clue of me, the Generli in the US called me once that was because my Daugther had to call them and email them They call once but never email or called again I was on a 16-day trip, and the incident happen about 5 days into the trip Made me wonder what if this would have been a serious medical issue, I would have been FUK! I would not recommend Generali, YOU WILL BE SORRY!!!!, Check your own insurance provider before you buy travel insurance You will find yourself paying out of your own pocket Technically It can be classified as a SCAM! I HAVE FILED A CLAIM with Safety wings/World Trips and what they did - they only found unreasonable excuses not to pay me! I got hospitalised in Thailand with Spontaneous Pneumothorax, the doctors told me its regular INSURED EMERGENCY CASE! MAP from Safety Wings tried to BARGAIN the hospital for too long NOT TO PAY THE FULL PRICE OF MY TREATMENTt, so I had to pay all bills beforehand by myself because all their bargaining postponed my urgent treatment while I WAS IN A SEVERE PAIN!! The Pakistani guy is their so-called medical audit professional, after my doctor talked to him he said "He is not a doctor, he has no medical knowledge!"brbrBy now I still didn't get payed! They offer money to my hospital directly (half price) and now rejecting to pay me anything??? Easy target! Just find a stupid excuses!brbrPLEASE NEVER TRYST THIS COMPANY! THET ARE FRAUDS NOT THE INSURANCE COMPANY! Comment from : olenamaryjane |

I don't know if one is sufficientI checked and my credit card doesn't cover travel insurance :(br What kind of companies do you guys use to get your travel insurance to cover lost or stolen bags, for example? Also for doctors visits in another country do you use the same companies? I'm looking for something affordable♡ Comment from : Komrad son |

I've bought Travel Insurance, twice One was to Maui, HW in 2017 my wife on that trip had to get tended to because she had a bad ankle sprain while snorkeling Allianz re-imbursed her Dr Bill(s) And the extra Hotel coverage because she could not travel back to Cali My final take is if you are over 50, do it Of course yes, if you are under 50 no Comment from : mreppen1 |

Though it may not be required to purchase the insurance at the time of the purchase of the trip it will cover your ass in most cases if you do As a former claim rep for one of the major insurers, a main disqualifier on claims is the purchase date and how it applies to the coverage claimed by the insuredbrAlways read the policy As the product you purchased it is upon you to read it If you have questions call the company Also, read it before you buy it ALWAYS! When traveling internationally, one should also be aware that several countries now MANDATE minimum health insurance and evacuation coverages For example, Singapore insists one supply them with proof of at least $30,000 USD in health insurance before allowing the traveler into the country Despite that, however, US citizens and others still have to endure a 14-day quarantine at a hotel of Singapore's choice and pay $1,600 USD for that "privilege" Think ya oughta just stay home Comment from : Mr C |

I buy mines to Maui because travel insurance saves me so much from buying car accident coverages with car rentals I paid 115 that covers a lot of things and car accident coverages vs paying 250 just for the car coverages with Alamos Comment from : Danie |

Great video Chris I never leave my home country without travel insurance, I've only had to make 3 or 4 claims in over 20 years of traveling but I'd never go o/s without the security it offers Comment from : Dan |
|
In our experiences, the reasons we have had to consider cancelling trips tend to be things that weren't covered reasons for cancellation We have paid for insurance before but don't usually do so anymore now that we have read the fine print But yeah - if I ever had a really expensive once-in-a-lifetime trip, I probably would get coverage even though it is unlikely we would ever use it Comment from : trvln_thru |
|
This info is so important (especially these days) and Chris spells out all the details here These past few months I've had to change/cancel so much stuff my head is spinning Truth be told, I think airlines, hotels, cruise lines and amusement parks are very quick to offer credits right now If you're vocal enough, I think most will refund if they can't deliver on what was promised I have tons of credits and will start to inquire about refunds I agree with Chris, insurance for national travel is really not necessary Someday when I'm ready to book that 'Around the World' trip, perhaps Also, the credit card Chris shows here looks really good, I'm applying tomorrow Thanks once again for some crazy important travel information here Chris You are without a doubt, the 'go to' person with regards to travel here on You Tube! Comment from : Nu Yawk |
|
Thank you for the video! If I travel domestically, I usually do not buy travel insurance because everything I reserve is either refundable (hotels, rental cars, etc) or is not too expensive (domestic airfare) Also, my health insurance will for sure cover me domestically As for international travel, I have been buying travel insurance, but I should check my benefits with my credit cards and health insurance as you suggested to make sure I'm not paying for coverage which I may already have and not know about it Comment from : Scottman895 Travel |
|
Thanks great video Comment from : Italy Lover |

We had a trip planned for this past April to the UK We booked airfare on our own on virgin atlantic (they cancelled the flight to civic and gave us to next April to use the ticket) the tour company also cancelled and also gave us a year to rebook Any advice here or just sit tight? I typically buy travel insurance contemporaneously when I book long or expensive trips to insure that pre existing conditions are covered The credit card benefits you quoted were, for the most part, very attractive However, $2500 dollars maximum for medical expenses will probably not work if you are hospitalized in a foreign country I was hospitalized in Norway They are a socialist country and citizens pay nothing As a non citizen I was charged considerably more than $250000 Also be advised that senior citizens who have Medicare supplemental insurance are often covered for medical cost outside the US up to $50000 lifetime You must pay out of pocket before submitting a claim Finally there are many travelers over 80 years of age They may find insurance unavailable or benefits more limited than younger travelers I was evacuated from Norway by air from Bergen to Los Angeles My insurance made all the arrangements including an American RN to accompany me, limos to and from the airport and a business class ticket They paid up front 100 of ALL the costs which were substantial Ideally you will will get $1,000,000 dollars maximum for evacuation expenses If necessary they will use private jets which cost thousands of dollars an hour Comment from : Stephen Prover |
|
Very informative I’ve never thought about travel insurance as most of my trips only cost around $500 (not including food) when I factor in splitting rental car/hotel etc with a few friends But very interesting to see all the different facets of travel insurance Comment from : Alex Jossi |
|
Good summary My wife and I cruise a lot and we do purchase insurance We had to collect once when we cancelled our honeymoon cruise less than two weeks prior due to an unforeseen illness We got every penny back within two weeks Two notes of importance when looking at insurance First, if you have pre-existing conditions (eg, diabetes, cancer, heart problem), many of the travel insurance polices will not cover or will only cover if purchased within a specified time after booking (the one we use must be purchased within two weeks of booking) Second, Medicare does not cover overseas medical, which is not common knowledge to many older cruisers We were cruising on the Coral Princess when the outbreak occurred Our insurance would have helped us with rebooking return flight and other activities if we had needed it Fortunately, Princess took good care of us, but this gave us a level of security so we could enjoy the trip despite all the disruptions Our credit card does provide some level of insurance, but I find purchasing a separate policy well worth the cost - but this is just me Keep in mind that we are older travelers with some medical conditions Comment from : Mark Samblanet |

Always read the fine print and if you are not sure exactly what it means do some research about it, never just assume anything Comment from : John Stone |
