Ummm You can fix it Its probably grey cast iron or a nodular grey cast ironbrbrSet up your bearings on it (warm it up 150 degrees before you tack on your bearing mounts) Tack on with 99 nickle rod Double tack, meaning when you put on a tack retack right on top of it right away to annel your tack and soften itbrbrPrebore it 200 over bearing sizebrbrPreheat the whole part 550 degreesbrWeld in 2 passes (layers) 080 thick per side (second pass will be softer than 1st pass) Thats 320 of weld, minus your 200 prebore, which gives you 120 to cut out(060 per side) (While bore welding you must keep blow torch on the rest of it to keep it hot) (Do not cherry red hot the bores, let bores cool back down to 600 if you have to, but keep blow torch on the rest of part to keep from cooling down)brbrWhen done welding and heating, wrap part up in insulation and let cool slooow Lots of insulation, should still be hot next morningbrbrSet you bar up and bore out Light cuts!! Otherwise your mounts will crack off Micro 100 brazed bit Must be sharpened to a point, not a radiusradius requires to much pressure for cut to start and hold or, the bar will flex and chatterbrbrRegular er70s wire I use lincoln l56brMake sure your bore welding tip is almost new Comment from : Bob Trailers |

I'm 75, have been in the welding/machining/fabricating world my whole adult life, and would love to "apprentice"' under you!! Comment from : Larry Fry |
So, when I was an Apprentice boy about 5 decades ago I worked in a huge shop in the Apprentice area which was really close to the big bosses office The Master Mechanic was an old timey Machinist and he passed through our area all the time If he saw you blowing off your machine with an air hose, he would give you a chewing and explain that the air blast would drive dirt and chips(Swarf) into areas that it would not normally go under normal conditions It would really set him off if you put a file down on the ways of the machine, so you only made those mistakes once! Comment from : C Rice |
I remember doing this in school I accidentally hit the clamps and my teachers weren't happy with that Comment from : John |
