Never tip in Ireland For larger parties in restsurant usually a service charge is added DO NOT TIP Employers actually pay employees here unlike America where wait staff rely on tips for wages

I am Irish but I love our dry humour I once asked an old guy directions and asked him if I was on the best road to Ashbourne his reply still gives me a laugh HE SAID THAT IT WAS IF YOU ARE STARTING FROM HERE and worth mentioning that I wouldn’t take offence if anyone wishes me A TOP OF THE MORNING I will be delighted if they take the trouble to give me any kind of friendly acknowledgment WELCOME ALL

As an Irish Canadian the biggest thin on my bucket list is to visit Ireland I told my wife i want to visit and go to every pub so that way i wouldn't have to leave I'm sure that Canadians and the Irish have a lot in common and want to see that for myself To me it would be like coming home I really want to visit County Cork i hear its really nice there and i hear its where my ancestors are from You gave me a lot of information and thank you even though a lot i already know like the UK part of it My blood is Irish

Very good informative guide Living here, I can recognise all of your tips I was glad that you mentioned not to only visit Dublin There are so many great places in the rest of Ireland and living in Limerick, I would say not to ignore the third city So many only visit Dublin, Cork, Kerry, Galway, Clare and Donegal and bypass Limerick Limerick has some amazing sights like King Johns Castle, The Hunt Museum and the Shannon to name just a few It is also well placed on the West Coast for seeing many other locations Also great for watching hurling 😉 One final thing is that Ireland has some truly incredible beaches!

Part of my family came from Ireland in the 1850s on up to the 1880's; much of Irish slang was passed down to my grandparents, some to my parents, but rarely do I hear any of it in my or later generations I'm 65 and happily surprised to hear Irish slang now in the US & I still understand it & sometimes it comes out of my mouth & I don't even notice it Loved your video!

I am in Ireland for more than 10 years but I would never do the following - neither are my Irish friends doing it! brbr1) Say no when asked for a cup of tea or coffee and expect to get onebr2) Stay for 3 or more rounds in a pub or a restaurant

I had an American friend was coming here with a couple of people doing a road trip they said they wanted to get "some Irish Car Bombs" in a real Irish pub and I was like WTF I didnt know what it was, she told me and I told her do not do that, at best you will get bad looks at worst you might get slapped around I told her there are parts of this country where people lost family members from bombs I gave an example, I used to go out with a girl from Monaghan where she was from everyone there knew someone one way or another who had family, freinds or neighbours who lost someone from bombs

I live in an area of the US that was heavily settled by Irish people from early 1900s to maybe 1930s and soooooo many of these behaviors are so eerily familiar We still have many people around here that cannot pronounce "th" and you can definitely hear it when talking to them Some were definitely in my own family!

If in pubs and you want a cheap alternative to fizzy drinks (soda) ask for cordial (also known as squash) with your water, usually in orange or blackcurrant flavour Might charge you €2 for a fash of cordial but many don't charge
